Job Summary

The Shift Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day restaurant operations during an assigned shift, ensuring excellent customer service, food quality, hygiene, operational efficiency, and achievement of sales targets. The role involves supervising team members, maintaining food safety standards, managing inventory and cash, and ensuring smooth restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Restaurant Operations

• Oversee daily restaurant operations during the assigned shift.
• Ensure timely order preparation, accuracy, and efficient service.
• Monitor dine-in, takeaway, drive-thru, and delivery operations, as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

2. Team Management

• Allocate duties and responsibilities to crew members.
• Monitor staff attendance, grooming, punctuality, and performance.
• Train and coach team members on operational standards.
• Maintain adequate staffing and coordinate shift handovers.

3. Customer Service

• Ensure a positive customer experience and high service standards.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly.
• Monitor order accuracy, service speed, and customer feedback.

4. Food Safety and Quality

• Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements.
• Monitor food storage temperatures, expiry dates, and product freshness.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and service areas.

5. Inventory and Cost Control

• Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment.
• Conduct stock counts and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Minimize food wastage and control portion sizes.
• Follow FIFO/FEFO procedures for inventory rotation.

6. Cash and Sales Management

• Handle cash registers, billing, and shift cash reconciliation.
• Monitor sales performance and support achievement of sales targets.
• Verify shift reports and report cash discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

7. Reporting and Compliance

• Maintain shift reports, checklists, and operational records.
• Report equipment breakdowns, maintenance issues, and incidents.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable food safety regulations.
• Complete proper handover to the incoming shift manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum qualification: 12th pass or graduate, depending on company requirements.
• Experience in QSR, fast food, retail food service, or restaurant operations preferred.
• Prior experience in team supervision or shift management is an advantage.
• Basic computer, POS, inventory, and reporting skills.
