SENIOR TEST ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute API test cases based on business and technical requirements.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Validate request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, headers, authentication, and data integrity.
• Develop and maintain automated API test scripts using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, ReadyAPI, or similar frameworks.
• Perform database validation using SQL queries to verify backend data.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements and identify test scenarios.
• Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, and test execution reports.
• Track, log, and manage defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Execute API performance and load testing using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Validate API security mechanisms, including OAuth, JWT, API Keys, and authentication/authorization workflows.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Ensure adherence to testing standards, best practices, and quality processes.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of API testing concepts and web services architecture.
• Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs.
• Experience using Postman, Swagger, SoapUI, ReadyAPI, or similar API testing tools.
• Knowledge of API automation frameworks such as Rest Assured, Karate, or Postman Collections/Newman.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript for test automation.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with JSON, XML, and API schema validation.
• Experience with defect management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with API security testing.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• ISTQB or relevant testing certification is a plus.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
