Job Title: Senior Test Engineer – API Automation Testing

Job Overview:
CGI is looking for a talented, motivated and skilled API Automation Test Engineer with 3 to 6 years of experience in API testing and test automation. The ideal candidate should have hands on experience in REST API testing, Postman, Rest Assured, and/or Karate Framework, with strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, CI/CD practices, and Agile development environments.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated API test frameworks using Rest Assured and/or Karate.

Create and execute API test cases for functional, regression, integration, and end to end testing.
-
Develop and maintain API collections, test scripts, and environments in Postman.

Validate API responses, request payloads, status codes, headers, authentication, and data integrity.
-
Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.

Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements and ensure quality deliverables.

Identify, track, and report defects with detailed root cause analysis.

Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand ups, and retrospectives.

Ensure test coverage, maintain test documentation, and drive automation best practices.
Required Skills
-
3 to 6 years of experience in Software Testing with a focus on API Testing.

Strong experience in API Automation Testing.
-
Hands on expertise with Rest Assured and/or Karate Framework.

Good experience in Postman for API testing and automation.
-
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, OAuth, JWT, and API authentication mechanisms.

Proficiency in Java programming.

Experience with test frameworks such as TestNG or JUnit.

Knowledge of SQL and database validation.
-
Experience with version control tools such as Git.
-
Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills
-
Experience with API performance testing tools such as JMeter.

Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and Microservices architecture.

Knowledge of BDD/TDD methodologies.

Cloud platform exposure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
