Job Description – Senior AS400 Developer
Experience: 5-9 years Location: Bangalore /Chennai / Hyderabad Role Summary: We are seeking a Senior AS400 Developer with strong expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will work closely with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure high quality, scalable, and reliable software releases. Key Responsibilities: Development & Maintenance: . Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on AS400 (IBM i) platform . Work with RPG IV / RPGLE, CLLE, SQLRPGLE for application development . Modify and enhance existing programs based on business requirements . Develop and maintain interactive and batch programs Production Support . Provide L2/L3 production support for AS400 applications . Monitor jobs, troubleshoot failures, and resolve incidents within SLA . Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues . Coordinate with business users and cross functional teams during incidents . Handle on call support/shift support as required Database & Integration . Work with DB2/400 database, including file design and performance tuning . Write embedded SQL queries and optimize database interactions . Support data migration, backups, and recovery processes System & Job Management . Manage job scheduling using tools like WRKJOB, WRKSPLF, job queues . Perform system monitoring and performance tuning . Handle spool files, logs, and error analysis Documentation & Compliance . Maintain technical documentation for programs and processes . Follow coding standards, best practices, and audit requirements . Support release management and deployment activitiesTechnical Skills . Strong experience in: RPG IV / RPGLE / ILE RPG CL Programming (CLLE) SQL / DB2/400 . Experience with debugging tools on AS400 . Familiarity with change management tools . Production Support Skills . Incident management and problem solving skills . Experience in ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira, etc.) . Ability to work under pressure in production environments . Knowledge of ITIL processes is a plus
