Job Summary
Walgreens is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Automation. The role involves designing, implementing, and supporting scalable, secure, and highly available cloud platforms while driving CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, monitoring, and modernization initiatives. The candidate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, influence technical decisions, and mentor engineering teams.
Key Requirements
- Lead complex software engineering initiatives, providing technical expertise and driving application design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and modernization efforts.
- Define and promote engineering standards, frameworks, reusable development patterns, and best practices across teams.
- Lead technical reviews, architectural discussions, and strategic planning while translating business priorities into technical roadmaps and deliverables.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs to ensure secure, scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions.
- Drive automation, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and engineering modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across product, business, architecture, security, and technology teams to deliver business-aligned solutions.
- Mentor and coach engineers through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
- Communicate technical recommendations, risks, and solution strategies effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Champion innovation, governance, DevOps practices, and continuous learning while staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Serve as a trusted technical expert during critical production support, delivery, and platform reliability engagements.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
- 4-9 years of Software Engineering / Platform Engineering / DevOps experience
- Experience in application development, deployment, and modernization
- Experience leading technical initiatives
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
