Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Cost Accounting to lead project costing, cost control, budgeting, financial analysis and profitability monitoring for infrastructure and construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in project cost accounting, financial planning, cost optimisation and variance analysis, along with the ability to work closely with project execution, engineering, procurement and finance teams to improve project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cost accounting systems, policies and procedures for construction and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, cost estimates, forecasts and variance analysis reports.
• Track project expenditure against approved budgets and identify cost overruns, financial risks and opportunities for cost optimisation.
• Monitor project-wise profitability, cash flows, work-in-progress and cost commitments.
• Analyse material, labour, subcontracting, equipment and other project costs.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement and contracts teams to strengthen cost control.
• Review tender estimates, project pricing, BOQs and cost assumptions to support commercial decision-making.
• Monitor vendor costs, subcontractor payments, purchase commitments and contractual obligations.
• Conduct periodic cost reviews and audits to ensure accuracy of project cost records and compliance with applicable standards.
• Prepare management reports covering project costs, budget utilisation, profitability and financial performance.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend corrective actions to improve margins.
• Lead, guide and develop the cost accounting team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
• CA Inter / ICWA (CMA) qualification is mandatory.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry.
• Demonstrated experience in project cost control, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of construction project costing, cost allocation, variance analysis and profitability assessment.
• Experience working with project execution, procurement, contracts and commercial teams.
• Proven ability to identify cost inefficiencies, investigate variances and implement corrective measures.
• Experience managing and mentoring a team of finance or cost accounting professionals.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with experience in infrastructure development, civil construction, engineering and construction (EPC), real estate development or large-scale project-based organisations will be preferred.

Compensation

Annual CTC of ₹18–20 LPA, depending on relevant experience and suitability.
