SENIOR ENGINEER - DATABASE ADMIN

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and optimize MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in cloud environments
• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions on AWS
• Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities
• Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies
• Manage database security, user access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements
• Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting and cloud-native tools
• Support database deployments and CI/CD processes in DevOps environments
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to ensure database reliability and performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents and performance issues
• Implement and support AI/ML-driven database monitoring, predictive analytics, and automation solutions
• Create and maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures

Technical Skills Required

• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Cloud Platforms: AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, IAM, S3)
• Database Administration: Installation, Configuration, Performance Tuning, Replication, Backup & Recovery
• High Availability: Read Replicas, Multi-AZ Deployments, Failover Management
• Automation & Scripting: Python, Shell Scripting, Bash
• Monitoring Tools: CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Grafana, Prometheus
• DevOps & CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation (preferred)
• Security: Database Security, Encryption, Access Management, Auditing
• AI & Automation: Experience with AI-powered monitoring, anomaly detection, predictive performance analysis, or GenAI-based operational automation
• Operating Systems: Linux/Unix Administration

Required Qualifications

• Database Administration with MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience managing databases in AWS cloud environments
• Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization
• Experience with backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and database automation
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Additional Information

• Candidate should be comfortable working in 4 PM to 1 AM shift.
• AWS Certification and database certifications will be an added advantage.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments is preferred.

Experience: 3-7 Years

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
