About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Electronics & Embedded Systems Engineer to own electronics development end-to-end - from requirements and schematic design to validated, production-ready boards and firmware. The immediate priority is the automotive product line (connected vehicle electronics, IoT modules, sensor interfaces, charging hardware for two-wheelers), with the a medical device line (exoskeletons, treadmills, hoists) as a secondary/future focus area. You'll lead electronics development in-house, manage external vendors, and become the technical owner of electronics and firmware across both product lines, reporting directly to the co-founder.
What You Will Do
- Translate product requirements into electronics specifications, block diagrams, interface definitions and power budgets.
- Select architectures, microcontrollers, sensors and communication interfaces; conduct safety risk analysis including FMEA.
- Design schematics and multilayer PCBs for controllers, sensor boards, power supplies and motor drivers.
- Design power electronics including AC-DC/DC-DC stages, battery packs, BMS and charging systems.
- Develop automotive-grade electronics, vehicle power systems, USB fast charging and sensor interfaces.
- Design motor control systems (BLDC/servo), analog front-ends for sensors (load cells, IMUs, encoders), and protection/safety circuits (over-current, over-voltage, e-stop, safe torque-off).
- Develop production firmware in embedded C/C++ on ARM Cortex-M platforms (STM32, ESP32, nRF) using bare-metal or FreeRTOS.
- Implement real-time closed-loop motor control and communication stacks (BLE, USB, CAN/CANopen, LIN, RS-485, I2C, SPI).
- Implement watchdogs, fault detection, secure OTA updates and event logging.
- Conduct functional, environmental, EMC pre-compliance and fault-injection testing; support automotive testing (AIS 004, ISO 7637, ISO 16750) and, as the medical line grows, support compliance with IEC 60601-1, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, ISO 13485 and CDSCO/CE-MDR submissions.
- Prepare manufacturing outputs (Gerbers, BOMs, assembly drawings) and coordinate with PCB fabricators, assembly houses and component distributors.
- Manage external electronics vendors, review designs/code, and mentor junior engineers as the team expands.
What We're Looking For
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Biomedical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on electronics and embedded product development experience, with at least two products taken from concept to production.
- Strong experience in either automotive electronics OR medical device electronics, with genuine willingness to learn the other domain
- Strong schematic and PCB design skills using Altium Designer, KiCad or OrCAD.
- Strong embedded C/C++ programming on 32-bit microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, nRF), with FreeRTOS or similar RTOS experience.
- Hands-on experience with power electronics, SMPS, battery systems, BMS and motor drivers (BLDC/servo).
- Working knowledge of BLE, USB, CAN and serial communication interfaces, plus sensor interfacing and signal conditioning.
- Understanding of closed-loop control systems (PID or similar) and strong hardware/firmware debugging skills.
- Comfort operating in a small, early-stage team with direct reporting to the co-founder and evolving processes.
