About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and mandatory production-grade Python backend development experience.
The ideal candidate must possess the ability to independently design, develop, test, deploy and maintain production-ready Python applications and REST APIs, in addition to managing AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and automation.
This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, practical backend development expertise, cloud infrastructure management capabilities, production troubleshooting skills and proficiency in AI-assisted engineering tools.
Strong Python programming and production-grade application development experience are mandatory. Candidates with only basic Python scripting or infrastructure automation experience will not be suitable for this position.
Key Responsibilities
1. AWS Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture
- Design, manage and maintain AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch and related services.
- Build secure, scalable, highly available and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot production issues and optimize AWS resource utilization.
- Implement cloud security best practices, access management and infrastructure reliability.
2. CI/CD & DevOps Engineering
- Design, build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for application development, testing and deployment.
- Manage deployment and release automation using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or equivalent tools.
- Implement infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) or ECS.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or equivalent tools.
- Automate application build, testing, deployment and release workflows.
3. Production-Grade Python Backend Development & API Engineering
- Independently design, develop, test, deploy and maintain production-grade Python applications and backend services.
- Develop scalable and secure RESTful APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
- Demonstrate strong Python programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, exception handling and asynchronous programming.
- Design and implement backend business logic, application architecture, integrations and reusable components.
- Develop and optimize database interactions using PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
- Implement API authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, logging and performance optimization.
- Write unit tests and integration tests using Pytest or equivalent frameworks.
- Debug, troubleshoot and resolve production-level application issues.
- Build scalable backend services and contribute to microservices-based architectures.
4. Python Automation & Scripting
- Develop Python and Shell scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, deployment and operational tasks.
- Build reusable tools and utilities to improve engineering productivity.
- Automate repetitive operational workflows and infrastructure management activities.
- Integrate Python-based automation into CI/CD pipelines and cloud operations.
5. Monitoring, Reliability & Production Support
- Implement monitoring, logging and alerting using AWS CloudWatch and other observability tools.
- Troubleshoot application, infrastructure and deployment-related issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Improve application availability, system performance and production reliability.
- Participate in production incident resolution and performance optimization.
6. AI-Assisted Engineering & Productivity
- Demonstrate strong practical AI fluency using tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT and OpenAI Codex.
- Leverage AI coding assistants for Python development, debugging, testing, code optimization and infrastructure automation.
- Use AI tools to accelerate development workflows and improve engineering productivity.
- Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure security, reliability, maintainability and production readiness.
What We're Looking For
- 5–7 years of relevant hands-on engineering experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Backend Engineering or related roles.
- Strong practical expertise in AWS cloud services and infrastructure management.
- Mandatory: Strong production-grade Python application development experience, beyond basic scripting and automation.
- Hands-on experience independently developing, testing, deploying and maintaining Python backend applications and REST APIs.
- Strong experience with at least one Python backend framework: FastAPI, Flask or Django.
- Strong understanding of Python programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, debugging and code optimization.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests using Pytest or equivalent tools.
- Strong understanding of Linux, networking, Git and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS) or ECS.
- Practical experience with Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Working knowledge of relational databases, NoSQL databases and API integrations.
- Experience with production troubleshooting, monitoring and system optimization.
- Practical proficiency with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, ChatGPT or Codex.
- Ability to independently design, develop, deploy and maintain production-grade systems.
Preferred Skills
- AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda and API Gateway.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ or other messaging systems.
- Knowledge of application security, database optimization and performance engineering.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or ELK.
- Experience with asynchronous Python applications and event-driven architectures.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A strong software engineer with deep AWS DevOps expertise and proven production-grade Python backend development capabilities.
- The candidate must be capable of independently managing cloud infrastructure, developing scalable Python applications and APIs, building CI/CD pipelines, troubleshooting production issues and leveraging AI-assisted development tools to deliver reliable, secure and maintainable engineering solutions.
Pay: ₹1,700,000.00 - ₹2,300,000.00 per year
