Job Summary
Senior DataOps Engineer
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, automating, optimising and securing scalable AWS data infrastructure. You will work across cloud infrastructure, data engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD automation and data governance.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, exploring emerging AWS technologies and continuously improving cloud infrastructure, security and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
AWS Data Infrastructure:
Design, deploy and maintain highly available, scalable data platforms using AWS-native services such as S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena and Kinesis.Data Security & DevSecOps:
Implement security best practices across the data lifecycle, including encryption, data masking, IAM policies, network security and access controls.CI/CD & Infrastructure Automation:
Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments using Terraform, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or AWS CodePipeline.Data Orchestration & Governance:
Manage data workflows using Apache Airflow (MWAA), AWS Step Functions and dbt. Implement monitoring, logging, auditing and compliance controls.Cloud Security & Monitoring:
Implement security monitoring, vulnerability management, encryption and auditing using AWS KMS, Secrets Manager, GuardDuty and CloudTrail.R&D & Continuous Improvement:
Research and evaluate emerging AWS services, open-source technologies and DevSecOps practices. Develop proof-of-concepts to improve platform performance, security and scalability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1. Experience
- 6+ years of experience in DataOps, DevOps or Data Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience designing and managing production-grade cloud data infrastructure.
2. AWS Cloud & Data Services
- Strong experience with Amazon S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Athena, Redshift and Kinesis.
- Working knowledge of EC2, EKS, ECS and AWS Lambda.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure provisioning using Terraform.
3. AWS Security & DevSecOps
- Strong understanding of AWS IAM, least-privilege access and role-based security.
- Hands-on experience with AWS KMS, encryption at rest and in transit.
- Knowledge of VPC networking, PrivateLink and Security Groups.
- Experience with AWS Secrets Manager, GuardDuty and CloudTrail.
- Understanding of data privacy, security governance and compliance auditing.
4. CI/CD & Containerisation
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or AWS CodePipeline.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated deployments.
5. Data Engineering & Orchestration
- Experience with Apache Airflow / AWS MWAA and AWS Step Functions.
- Knowledge of dbt and modern data transformation workflows.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases and database security.

- Security-first approach to cloud infrastructure and data engineering.
- Curiosity to explore emerging AWS technologies and open-source tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and data pipeline issues.
