Senior Analyst / Analyst - Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Role Overview: You will be working as a full-time Analyst - Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at Erda Illumine Low Carbon Solutions Pvt Ltd. in Kolkata. Your main responsibility will be to understand GIS/RS and innovate to combine local knowledge with global data sets. Your daily tasks will include conducting geographic data analysis, supporting systems and data integration, and troubleshooting GIS-related issues. Collaboration with a diverse technical team and other team members will be essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: - Passionately work as a team-player and contribute to the company's Nature-based Solutions (NbS) program approaches. - Perform Land Use / Land Cover (LULC) classification mapping using satellite imagery. - Contribute to developing GIS-based tree biomass calculations for AFOLU projects. - Conduct spatial analyses and produce maps focusing on AFOLU (ARR/AGR/WRC) projects and programs. - Apply image classification and segmentation techniques for agricultural insights. - Lead vector data development, digitization, and spatial analysis. - Skilled in Image-to-Image Georeferencing and Cadastral Map Rectification for accurate spatial analysis. - Hands-on experience in Revenue Parcel Mapping for land administration and property taxation systems. - Utilize AutoCAD for image georeferencing, rectification in mouza maps, and revenue parcel maps. - Conduct crop yield estimation using remote sensing datasets. - Assess carbon sequestration/soil organic carbon and stock potentials. - Support research initiatives in remote sensing for agriculture/forestry. - Produce high-quality cartographic outputs for internal and client-facing projects. - Enhance Java Script/Python code to manipulate large raster datasets. - Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS platform and open-source geospatial solutions like QGIS and Google Earth Engine. - Knowledgeable in the acquisition, management, interpretation, and exploitation of remote sensing data. Qualification Required: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline. - Minimum of 13 years of relevant experience in GIS and RS, particularly in forestry, agriculture, or land-use change analysis in developing countries. - Additional background in Computer Science, Engineering, Forestry, Geography, Agriculture, Geology, or related fields is desirable.,
