About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to support our India Finance Operations, Statutory Compliance, and STPI-related filings. This role involves end-to-end ownership of accounting, statutory governance, monthly closures, and compliance across GST, TDS, PF/PT, ROC, Payroll, and STPI regulations applicable to a software/IT consulting company.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on accounting experience, audit exposure, GST refund expertise (export of services), and excellent documentation discipline. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work within strict statutory timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Compliance Governance
- Manage client invoicing, revenue recognition for export of services, and customer ageing analysis.
- Process vendor invoices, handle payments, and monitor accounts payable ageing and P2P Cycle.
- Perform bank reconciliation, GL postings, journal entries, prepayments, and month-end accruals.
- Lead the finalisation of books of accounts under Indian GAAP and coordinate with internal/external auditors.
- Prepare and present monthly MIS, including:
- EBITDA analysis
- Variance analysis
- Segment profitability
- Cost Center-level reports
- Support quarterly closings, internal controls, and statutory audits.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of Income tax return and audit reports: 3CA/3CD, 3CEB, GST audits, and statutory schedules.
2. Payroll Management
- Oversee monthly payroll processing and audit checks (salary structures, attendance, deductions, F&F).
- Ensure timely deductions and payment of PF, PT, ESI, LWF, and TDS.
- Reconcile payroll data between Tally/Zoho and Keka ensuring accuracy and no leakages.
- Validate payroll tax computations, reimbursements, investment proofs, and Form 16 issuance.
3. Statutory & Tax Compliance
- Handle end-to-end TDS/TCS compliance: monthly deductions, challans, and filing Form 24Q/26Q.
- Manage PF, PT, ESI filings across relevant states.
- File and reconcile monthly/quarterly GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and annual returns (GSTR-9/9C).
- Carry out reconciliation between GSTR-2B and internal ledgers.
- Manage GST LUT applications, export-service GST refunds (RFD-01, PMT-03 tracking), and follow-up with the department.
- Coordinate tax workings across business units and work closely with external CA firms.
4. Intercompany & Transfer Pricing
- Prepare and raise monthly intercompany invoices with group entities in accordance with transfer pricing policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate intercompany reconciliations and confirmation of balances.
- Assist in preparation and compliance of TP documentation, including filing of Form 3CEB.
5. STPI Compliance (Software Technology Parks of India)
- Manage all documentation and compliance applicable to STPI-registered units:
- STPI registration/renewal documentation
- Softex form preparation and submission through the STPI portal
- Monthly/quarterly performance reports (MPR/QPR)
- Annual Performance Report (APR) filing
- Coordinate with STPI officials and ensure adherence to STPI procedures for export of software/IT services.
- Track foreign inward remittances (FIRCs), invoices, and realisation certificates for Softex approval.
- Maintain audit readiness for STPI inspections and compliance checks.
6. Regulatory & Special Filings
- File FLA Return with RBI annually.
- Support compliance for 80-IAC Startup recognition & exemptions, including documentation.
- Ensure vendor compliance, including:
- MSME declarations
- Income Tax compliance
- GST registration validation
- Support ROC filings (AOC-4, MGT-7, PAS-6, DIR-3 KYC) along with the secretarial team.
Skills Required
- Strong understanding of Indian statutory compliances: GST, TDS, PF, PT, ROC, STPI.
- Hands-on experience in GST refund filings for export of services.
- Proficiency in accounting tools such as Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar ERPs.
- Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, MIS reporting).
- Excellent documentation, accuracy, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight compliance timelines.
Qualifications
- B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA-Inter preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in India Finance Operations, Statutory Compliance, and GST.
- Experience in IT/Software/Consulting industry or STPI unit preferred.
