SDE2 - Backend (Java / Spring Boot)

We at Unbordered are building a global wealth platform for NRIs and HNIs.

We’re starting from zero. You won’t inherit a playbook- you’ll write it. Architecture, standards, how we build: you’re here to lay the foundation.

This is an SDE2 seat with real ownership. You take a problem from a fuzzy idea to live in production, and you stay on it after launch.

What You'll Do:

•       Build backend services in Java + Spring Boot that handle real money moving across borders

•       Own features end to end: design, code, tests, deploy, monitor, fix

•       Lay the foundation: service structure, data models, coding standards, CI/CD basics

•       Integrate with third-party partners across investments, payments, and tax

•        Make money-handling systems trustworthy: idempotency, data consistency, audit trails, security

•        Turn ambiguous requirements into shippable pieces with product and the leadership , and push back when something doesn't add up

•        Review code and help raise the engineering bar as the team grows

•        Ship small and often, then improve.

Must-Haves:

•        2-5 years of backend experience with strong Java and Spring Boot

•        Fintech experience: you've worked on systems where money, trades, or compliance were involved

•        Solid with SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, any) and basic familiarity with NoSQL

•        Hands-on with a messaging system (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, any) and comfortable on any cloud (AWS / GCP / Azure)

•        Ownership mindset and comfort with ambiguity. You don't wait for a perfect spec to start moving.

Good-to-Have:

•        Experience in wealth tech, stock broking, or cross-border payments

•        Background in a startup or product-based company, where you've shipped fast

•        Exposure to regulatory or compliance-heavy systems (SEBI, RBI, or US equivalents)

•        Understanding of investment products or tax filing (US and India)

•        Experience building something 0 to 1

•        Microservices, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD
