Key Duties & Responsibilities - Study product samples or customer drawings and prepare 2D & 3D models. - Develop complete mould design (core, cavity, cooling, ejection, gating). - Prepare BOM and share with Purchase department. - Provide design data to CAM and Tool Room and coordinate during manufacturing. - Attend mould trials, analyse defects, and suggest improvements. - Maintain design documentation and data backups. - Support Tool Room and CAM team in resolving design queries. - Communicate with customers regarding design changes or approvals when required. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Design accuracy and quality (error-free drawings) - Timely completion of design projects - Number of design-related issues during trial - Customer satisfaction and approval on first submission - Proper documentation and backup of design data Decision-Making Authority Can finalize design layout, select standard components, and approve drawings for manufacturing (as per company authority matrix). Position Overview The Injection Moulding Machine Operator will be responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining injection moulding machines used for the production of PVC fittings and related plastic components. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Machine Operation & Setup Install moulds/dies for PVC fittings and load raw PVC material into the hopper. Set machine parameters including temperature, pressure, and cycle time as per specifications for PVC-based production. 2. Monitoring Production Monitor machine operation to ensure consistent moulding of PVC fittings. Adjust settings to optimize quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize scrap. 3. Quality Control Inspect PVC fittings for defects such as warpage, short shots, bubbles, or dimensional variations. Measure components using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and check against standards. 4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of machines and moulds used for PVC fittings. Troubleshoot processing issues like burn marks, flow lines, or improper fill. Report major mechanical or process issues to the maintenance team. 5. Material Handling Handle PVC compound materials, mix additives or color masterbatches as required. Regrind and recycle scrap PVC material where applicable. 6. Documentation & Reporting Record production output, process parameters, mould changeovers, and any issues faced. Maintain shift logs and follow proper documentation protocols. 7. Safety & Workplace Standards Follow safety guidelines for handling hot moulds, PVC materials, and machine operation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times. Required Skills & Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Technical diploma or vocational training in Plastics Technology preferred. Experience Experience in injection moulding operations, specifically for PVC fittings, is highly desirable. Exposure to plumbing or industrial fittings manufacturing will be an added advantage. Technical Skills Understanding of injection moulding machines and PVC processing parameters. Ability to read technical drawings and mould specifications. Proficiency with measuring and quality inspection tools. Soft Skills Strong attention to detail and quality focus. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks. Ability to lift materials or tools up to 25 pounds. Comfortable working in a warm, noisy factory setting.
