Job Title: Research Assistant – Cybersecurity Documentation Location: Remote Department: Cybersecurity / Research & Development Employment Type: Internship (Unpaid) About the Role: We are seeking a Research Assistant with a strong interest in cybersecurity to support our team in researching, analyzing, and documenting various cyber-attacks, defense mechanisms, and tools used by SOC (Security Operations Center) and Red Teams. The ideal candidate will help create well-structured, ethical, and educational documents aimed at helping new learners and professionals understand real-world cybersecurity scenarios and best practices. Key Responsibilities: 1. Conduct detailed research on cyber-attacks, threat actors, attack vectors, and defense techniques. 2. Study and document the tools and frameworks used by SOC teams, Red Teams, and Blue Teams (e.g., SIEM tools, penetration testing tools, incident response platforms). 3. Prepare comprehensive, ethical, and beginner-friendly learning documents explaining attack methodologies, mitigation strategies, and cybersecurity tools. 4. Organize and maintain a repository of cybersecurity case studies, attack simulations, and defense playbooks. 5. Collaborate with senior cybersecurity analysts and team leads to ensure accuracy, ethical compliance, and clarity in documentation. 6. Stay up to date with emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and trends in the cybersecurity landscape. 7. Support the team in developing internal learning materials, guides, and research papers for training and knowledge-sharing purposes. Required Skills and Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. 2. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including common attack types such as phishing, ransomware, and privilege escalation, along with defense mechanisms. 3. Familiarity with tools and platforms used by SOC and Red Teams such as Splunk, Wireshark, Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Nmap. 4. Good understanding of ethical hacking principles and responsible disclosure practices. 5. Excellent technical writing and documentation skills. 6. Strong analytical and research abilities with attention to detail. 7. Self-motivated, organized, and able to handle multiple research topics simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or similar (optional but a plus). 2. Previous experience in cybersecurity research, writing, or technical documentation. 3.
