RT Film Interpreter – Welding (Radiographic Testing)

The RT Film Interpreter – Welding is responsible for reviewing and interpreting radiographic films/images of welds to detect and evaluate internal discontinuities such as porosity, slag inclusion, lack of fusion, cracks, and other welding defects. This role supports quality assurance and welding inspection activities as per industry standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret X-ray/Gamma-ray films or digital radiographic images (RT) for weld quality and defect identification.
• Assess the type, size, and location of discontinuities in accordance with acceptance criteria (ASME, AWS, API, ISO standards).
• Collaborate with weld inspectors, NDT Level II/III personnel, and QC engineers to report findings.
• Prepare clear and accurate inspection reports with interpretation details.
• Verify that radiographs meet exposure and sensitivity requirements (IQI, SFD, density, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with project-specific radiography procedures and safety regulations.
• Maintain proper film storage, handling, and traceability records.
• Assist in qualifying weld procedures and welder performance by interpreting test welds.
• Coordinate with radiography crews and verify technique sheets when required.

Qualifications

• Education: Diploma / ITI / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or related field
• Certification:
• ASNT/ISNT Level II in RT (SNT-TC-1A or ISO 9712) – mandatory
• Film Interpretation (RTFI) endorsement/certificate (preferred)
• Familiarity with Digital Radiography (DR/CR) is a plus

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
