Respiratory Technician

Role & responsibilities:

A respiratory therapist (RT) or respiratory technician specializes in evaluating, treating, and caring for patients of all ages who suffer from breathing and cardiopulmonary (heart and lung) disorders.

• Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:

• Interview patients and review medical histories.
• Perform physical exams (such as listening to lung sounds with a stethoscope).
• Conduct and analyze diagnostic tests like

  pulmonary function tests (PFTs)

  , spirometry, and

  arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis

  .

• Administering Treatments and Therapies:

• Deliver oxygen therapy and aerosol/nebulizer medications.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to help clear mucus and secretions from the lungs.
• Provide inhalation therapies and assist with breathing exercises.

• Managing Life-Support and Ventilators:

• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators for patients in intensive care units (ICUs) who cannot breathe independently.
• Adjust ventilator settings based on real-time blood gas and oxygen data.

• Emergency and Critical Care Response:

• Serve as a core member of rapid response and code teams.
• Perform endotracheal intubation (inserting breathing tubes), manage airways during trauma, and assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

• Patient Education and Rehabilitation:

• Teach patients and families how to manage chronic conditions like asthma, COPD, or cystic fibrosis at home.
• Instruct patients on using inhalers, home oxygen systems, and CPAP/BiPAP machines for sleep apnea.
• Guide participants through pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

• Equipment Maintenance:

• Assemble, check, calibrate, and sterilize specialized respiratory devices, gas delivery systems, and monitoring tools.

• Healthcare Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other specialists to update care plans, document patient progress, and adjust medical interventions.

Preferred candidate profile

Male candidate having relevant experience in Bronchoscopy will be preferred.
