Required Expectations for 3-5 Year Experienced Field Application Engineer (FAE) Semiconductor Distribution 1. Technical Competency Provide in-depth technical support on semiconductors (MCUs, power devices, Analog, memory, RF, sensors, etc.). Review customer schematics, PCB layouts, and system designs; recommend optimal solutions. Conduct design validation, debugging, and ensure reliable performance of proposed solutions. Stay updated with supplier roadmaps and emerging technologies. 2. Customer Support & Engagement Act as the first technical contact for customers during product evaluation and design-in phases. Conduct product presentations, demos, and application workshops at customer sites. Troubleshoot and resolve application-level issues to ensure smooth design cycles. Build strong technical relationships with R&D and design teams at customer side. 3. Business Development Alignment Work closely with Sales to identify and qualify opportunities. Drive design wins by proposing suitable components/solutions from distributor line card. Suggest alternate solutions during supply shortages or cost-sensitive situations. Support go-to-market activities: seminars, webinars, product launches, and technical campaigns. 4. Supplier Collaboration Serve as the technical representative of semiconductor suppliers. Liaise with suppliers for product updates, application notes, and roadmap discussions. Provide feedback on local market/customer requirements to suppliers. Assist suppliers with PoC (Proof of Concept) and evaluation board deployment at customers. 5. Training & Knowledge Sharing Conduct regular technical training for internal sales teams. Share technical updates and competitor analysis within the distributor team. Develop technical documentation, reference designs, and application notes for customer use. 6. Project Tracking & Reporting Track customer projects from concept stage to mass production. Maintain project funnel reports, design-win status, and revenue impact. Provide regular reports to management and suppliers on progress and challenges. Ensure project alignment with distributor’s business goals.
