Job Summary
Deesawala Rubber Industries is looking for an experienced QA/QC Manager with strong hands-on experience in rubber gasket manufacturing, rubber testing, quality management systems, product certifications, and technical compliance.
The ideal candidate should have experience with rubber moulded products and elastomeric sealing products, particularly pipe gaskets for GRP/GRP composite pipes and ductile iron (DI) pipes, flange gaskets, O-rings, and rubber compounds such as EPDM, FKM (Viton), HNBR, and other elastomers.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing quality control activities, laboratory testing, customer and certification audits, product approvals, and continuous improvement of the company's quality systems.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Control & Testing
- Manage incoming raw material, in-process, and final product inspection and testing.
- Conduct and review rubber testing including Hardness (Shore A/IRHD), Tensile Strength, Elongation, Compression Set, Ageing Resistance, and other applicable physical properties.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy, profile conformity, tolerances, and sealing performance of rubber gaskets and O-rings.
- Prepare and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), sampling procedures, acceptance criteria, and product quality standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, inspection reports, test reports, and Certificates of Analysis.
- Coordinate with accredited external laboratories for specialized testing.
2. Product Certifications & Approvals
- Lead product approval and certification activities for WRAS, NSF, BIS, and other applicable certifications.
- Understand applicable certification requirements, test protocols, documentation, and renewal procedures.
- Prepare technical dossiers, product specifications, drawings, material declarations, test reports, and certification documents.
- Coordinate with certification bodies, testing laboratories, and regulatory agencies.
- Manage product sample submissions, factory inspections, corrective actions, and certification renewals.
- Maintain a certification register and ensure timely renewal of approvals.
3. Standards & Technical Compliance
- Interpret and implement applicable IS, EN, ISO, ASTM, and customer-specific standards.
- Knowledge of EN 681-1, IS 5382, ISO 9001 and relevant rubber/elastomer standards will be an advantage.
- Ensure compliance with applicable requirements for potable-water applications.
- Review product specifications and ensure compliance with customer and target-market requirements.
4. Quality Management System & Audits:
- Implement and maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS), preferably ISO 9001.
- Coordinate internal, customer, certification, and third-party audits.
- Manage NCRs, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) and customer complaints.
- Prepare and maintain SOPs, quality manuals, inspection formats, control plans, and testing procedures.
- Analyse quality data and drive continuous improvement in product quality and process consistency.
5. Manufacturing & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Production, Moulding, Compounding, Purchase, and Dispatch teams to prevent quality issues.
- Monitor critical manufacturing parameters and ensure consistent quality across batches.
- Approve or recommend disposition of non-conforming materials and finished products.
- Support new product development, rubber compound qualification, process validation, and customer approvals.
- Train production and inspection personnel on quality standards, testing methods, and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- B.Tech / B.E. in Rubber Technology, Polymer Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in QA/QC, preferably in rubber gasket, rubber moulding, elastomeric sealing, or polymer manufacturing.
- Strong practical knowledge of rubber testing methods and interpretation of test results.
- Experience in quality documentation, inspection procedures, and customer quality requirements.
- Experience coordinating with external laboratories and certification agencies.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience:
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be strongly preferred:
- Rubber gasket manufacturing for GRP/GRP composite pipes or ductile iron (DI) pipes.
- Flange gaskets, O-rings, and elastomeric products.
- EPDM, FKM (Viton), HNBR and other rubber compounds.
- WRAS, NSF, BIS or similar product certifications.
- EN 681-1, IS 5382, ISO 9001 and applicable ASTM/ISO/IS standards.
- Customer audits, third-party testing, certification applications, and technical compliance.
- Rubber moulding and elastomeric sealing product manufacturing.

Candidates currently or previously working in rubber gasket, rubber moulding, elastomeric sealing, polymer products, sealing solutions, or related manufacturing companies will be preferred.
