Location: Hyderabad Function: Quality Engineering Primary stack: JavaScript + Cypress / API testing + Azure DevOps + CI/CD Role overview: The QA / Quality Engineer protects software quality across complex customer and enterprise platforms. The role combines hands on functional and automated testing with test strategy, API testing, non functional quality, CI/CD quality gates, defect management and production readiness collaboration. The profile is suited to Centrica style Agile and DevOps teams where QA partners closely with developers, product managers, architecture and operations. Key responsibilities . Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts and test data for software products, features and integrations. . Design and execute functional, regression, integration, end to end and UAT oriented testing across complex platforms. . Build and maintain automated tests using JavaScript and frameworks such as Cypress, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines. . Create and run API tests, validating service behaviour, data contracts, error handling and end to end data movement. . Assess quality risk and define practical test coverage across functional and non functional requirements. . Support performance, accessibility and visual testing where relevant to the product and customer journey. . Integrate automated tests and quality gates with Continuous Integration tooling such as Azure DevOps. . Identify, document, prioritise and track defects through closure, working closely with developers and product teams. . Provide clear test results, quality status, risks and recommendations to stakeholders and delivery teams. . Contribute to release readiness, production validation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement of quality practices. . Support and mentor other quality engineers/testers where the role has lead responsibilities. . Participate actively in Scrum, Kanban and other Agile ceremonies, bringing quality considerations into refinement and delivery planning. Required technical skills Automation Testing: Strong hands on automation using JavaScript; Cypress or comparable modern framework. Testing: Functional, regression, integration, end to end, API, performance, accessibility and visual testing. CI/CD: Azure DevOps or equivalent CI tooling; automated quality gates and pipeline integration. API Testing: Hands on REST/API testing, test data and validation of upstream/downstream integrations. Quality Engineering: Test strategy, quality risk assessment, defect lifecycle, metrics and release readiness. Experience . Essential: 5+ years in software quality engineering, with strong automation, CI/CD and test strategy experience across complex platforms. . Essential: 2+ years of experience leading or managing a team of software quality engineers/testers, for senior/lead variants of the role. . Essential: Demonstrable experience writing tests in JavaScript and using modern automation frameworks such as Cypress. . Essential: Practical experience of API testing and integration validation. . Essential: Experience operating in Agile and DevOps environments and working with CI tooling such as Azure DevOps. . Good to have: Cloud platform exposure, particularly AWS, and experience testing cloud native services. . Good to have: Experience testing Salesforce or other CRM platforms in integration heavy enterprise landscapes. . Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Behavioural competencies .
