ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking a passionate Urban Designer with strong analytical and design skills to support our projects in street and junction design, placemaking, wayfinding, tactical urbanism, public-realm improvements, research, and mobility planning. The role involves both field engagement and studio-based design work, with opportunities to directly contribute to real-world urban transformation initiatives in the region. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES · Develop street design and junction improvement proposals using human-centric design principles. · Assist in preparing detailed drawings, 2D/3D visualisations, site plans, and presentation decks. · Contribute to placemaking and tactical urbanism initiatives, including concept development and on-ground implementation support. · Conduct research, site surveys, mapping, and behavioural/traffic observations. · Support development of wayfinding systems and public-space design guidelines. · Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and project documentation. · Coordinate with government departments, local stakeholders, consultants, and community groups. · Participate in workshops, field visits, and stakeholder engagement activities. · Assist the team in day-to-day project coordination, documentation, and communication tasks. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Undergraduate degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a closely related field. · 0–2 years of experience in urban design, transport planning, public-space design, or similar domains. · Proficiency in design and drafting tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, GIS tools preferred). · Strong visual communication, analytical, and research skills. · Good understanding of complete streets, NMT infrastructure, and human-centric urban design principles. · Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team. PREFERRED SKILLS · Experience with or passion for street design, traffic surveys, or tactical urbanism. · Knowledge of mobility planning and behavioural research. · Experience with QGIS/ArcGIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop or other advanced visualisation tools. OTHER REQUIREMENTS · Willingness to travel as per project needs. · Comfortable working in a dynamic, non-profit setup with varied responsibilities. · Good verbal and written communication skills in English, Assamese and Hindi WORK ENVIRONMENT · Hybrid role based out of Guwahati (fieldwork and in-person meetings as required). · Opportunity to work on high-impact public-space and mobility projects across Northeast India.
