Purchase & Vendor Development Engineer

• Supplier Identification & Sourcing:
• Find and screen new suppliers for CNC machining, VMC, HMC, turning, grinding, laser cutting, sheet metal bending, welding, and structural fabrication.
• Develop alternate or back-up vendors to mitigate supply chain risks and single-point failures.
• Technical Evaluation & Audits:
• Study engineering drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications.
• Conduct supplier facility audits to assess machine capacity, shop-floor infrastructure, welding qualifications, and quality management systems.
• New Product Development (NPD) & Part Approval:
• Coordinate prototype development, process feasibility studies, and First Article Inspection (FAI).
• Drive compliance frameworks such as APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
• Costing & Commercial Negotiation:
• Perform should-cost analysis, raw material cost breakdowns, machining hour-rate evaluations, and tooling/fixture cost assessments.
• Negotiate unit pricing, payment terms, delivery lead times, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with vendors.
• Education: Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience: Typically 2+ years of hands-on experience in vendor development, strategic sourcing, or supplier quality within the heavy engineering, automotive, or machine tools industry.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex 2D/3D engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Working knowledge of machining processes (turning, milling, drilling, grinding) and fabrication/welding standards.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Tally) and MS Excel for cost modeling.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, cross-functional coordination, negotiation, and communication skills.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
