Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager to manage procurement activities for our nutraceutical business. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, active ingredients, excipients, packaging materials, and finished products while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate should have experience in vendor management, supplier negotiations, inventory planning, and procurement within the nutraceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Sourcing
- Manage end-to-end procurement of nutraceutical raw materials, vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts, active ingredients, excipients, and packaging materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Source materials based on production requirements, demand forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials to avoid production delays or stock shortages.
2. Vendor Management & Negotiation
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, credit periods, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and manufacturers.
- Evaluate suppliers based on pricing, quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
- Conduct periodic vendor assessments and maintain an approved vendor list.
3. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality.
- Compare quotations and prepare cost analysis reports.
- Monitor market trends and fluctuations in the prices of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Ensure procurement activities remain within approved budgets.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Production, and Regulatory Affairs teams to ensure materials meet the required specifications.
- Ensure procurement is carried out from approved and qualified suppliers.
- Coordinate the collection of Certificates of Analysis (COAs), specifications, and other relevant quality documents.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and company procurement procedures.
5. Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the warehouse and production teams.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to prevent overstocking and stockouts.
- Track purchase orders, material availability, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for timely receipt of materials.
6. Purchase Order & Documentation Management
- Prepare, review, and release purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and supplier agreements.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding pending orders, dispatches, and delayed deliveries.
- Prepare periodic procurement reports for management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, , or a related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in purchase and procurement, preferably in the nutraceutical,
- Strong knowledge of nutraceutical raw materials, multi-vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts, proteins, excipients, and packaging materials.
- Experience in vendor development, price negotiation, and supplier management.
- Good understanding of inventory management and procurement processes.
- Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal departments and external suppliers.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with prior experience in nutraceutical manufacturing, dietary supplement companies will be preferred.
- Experience in sourcing domestic raw materials will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of material specifications, COAs, vendor qualification, and quality documentation is desirable.
- Should be proactive, detail-oriented, cost-conscious, and capable of managing multiple procurement activities.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
