Purchase Engineer Mechanical (Production)Bangalore

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Engineer to manage procurement activities for mechanical production. The candidate should have strong knowledge of vendor development, supplier management, price negotiation, cost reduction, and sourcing of mechanical raw materials and engineering components to ensure uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of mechanical raw materials, engineering components, fasteners, bearings, tools, consumables, and bought-out parts.
• Source MS, SS, aluminium, castings, forgings, machined components, and fabrication items as per production requirements.
• Develop new vendors and maintain relationships with existing suppliers.
• Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, negotiate prices, and finalize commercial terms.
• Prepare and release purchase orders based on approved purchase requisitions, BOMs, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate with production, planning, stores, quality, and design departments for material requirements.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and prevent production delays.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through negotiations, alternate sourcing, and supplier development.
• Manage subcontracting and job-work procurement, including machining, fabrication, welding, and surface treatment, wherever applicable.
• Resolve supplier-related issues concerning quality rejections, shortages, and delayed deliveries.
• Monitor inventory levels, purchase lead times, and critical material requirements.
• Maintain purchase records, supplier databases, quotations, purchase orders, and procurement reports.
• Coordinate with accounts for invoice verification and material receipt discrepancies.

Preferred Experience

• CNC machining, precision engineering, fabrication, or industrial machinery manufacturing.
• Subcontracting, job-work procurement, and supplier development.
• Inventory control, cost optimization, and lead-time management.
