Purchase Engineer

Purpose of the Position

Procurement of various items - MRO for plant & field with the attribute of time, cost & quality, while ensuring the implementation of different measures taken for inventory control.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The major / primary roles and responsibilities of the job will be as follows, including but not

limited to:

• Prepare and manage RFI/RFQ/RFP, negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery terms, freight charges, raw material, other commercial conditions, and finalization of RFQ.
• Prepare technical-commercial comparisons, normalize supplier proposals and support supplier selection. Evaluate supplier proposals using TCO models and ROI metrics.
• Conduct market research, supplier identification, alternate vendor development and prepare a category strategy roadmap.
• Deliver annual savings, cost avoidance, cash-flow improvement, and productivity improvement targets.
• Preparing purchase orders with various conditions in SAP.
• Working on Annual rate contracts / Scheduling agreement for MRO / Engineering / Consumables items for all plants.
• Coordination with all Plants buyers, Stakeholders.
• Understanding technical drawings & place order to competent supplier after negotiations based on the required parameters.
• Purchase Request / Proforma Invoice review on daily basis.
• Follow up with vendors and transporters for timely delivery of material.

• Processing advance / credit payments through accounts dept. after verification of proforma invoice / tax invoice / Modvatable invoice with PO terms.
• Verification of proforma invoice as per PO conditions, making down payment request

in SAP.

• Assistance to EMS for clearing pending Challans / GR.
• To analyse the details & data for purchase decision making.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports / ad-hoc reports on need basis.
• Execution & Support to Plant team members for on time conversion to PR to PO, Ontime delivery & Reduction of stockout.
• Ensure adherence to procurement SOP, approval matrix, and audit documentation.

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

• Strong commercial acumen, analytical ability, and stake-holder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, exposure to SAP, Ariba, Coupa, Tableau or similar ERP/eProcurement tools preferred.
• Good knowledge of purchase process as a category buyer.
• Good working knowledge of purchasing methods.
• Good working knowledge of Annual rate contract.
• Supplier relationship management & development.
• Must have in-depth knowledge of SAP MM module.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, ownership and problem-solving skills.

Experience

• At least 7~10 years experience in purchase function.

Education Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering, Supply chain, business, or Procurement.
