Project Engineer — Inspection & Installation
About Enlog
Enlog develops intelligent electricity monitoring and optimization solutions for buildings and commercial facilities. Our products combine IoT hardware, electrical monitoring, remote connectivity and intelligent automation to help customers improve energy efficiency and operational visibility.
Job Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Project Engineer to manage technical inspection, installation coordination, commissioning and quality verification of Enlog's products across customer sites.
The engineer will work closely with the Project Management team and Electrician & MEP Department to execute deployments at PG properties, banks, hotels, offices and other commercial facilities.
The role involves a combination of remote execution and on-site work. The engineer must be able to guide local electricians over phone or video calls, assess site readiness, troubleshoot installation issues and verify that devices are correctly installed, configured and operational.
This is a technical execution role, not a desk-only coordination or energy auditing position.
Key Responsibilities1. Site Inspection & Technical Assessment
- Conduct remote and physical site inspections based on project complexity.
- Understand client requirements, electrical infrastructure, installation locations and connectivity availability.
- Assess LT panels, distribution boards, MCB boxes, switchboards and relevant electrical equipment.
- Identify installation constraints, safety requirements and additional materials or manpower needed.
- Prepare inspection reports, site photographs, technical observations and installation recommendations.
- Identify when a site requires a senior technical specialist or an additional physical visit.
2. Installation Planning & Execution
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to plan installations and allocate technical resources.
- Guide electricians and contractors through installation procedures using phone or video calls.
- Conduct physical installation and commissioning visits where remote execution is insufficient.
- Ensure the correct placement, wiring, configuration and installation of Enlog devices.
- Verify CT orientation and connections, power supply, communication setup and other applicable installation parameters.
- Coordinate with the Electrician & MEP team to resolve electrical and site-related issues.
3. Device Commissioning & Verification
- Configure devices and verify that they connect to the appropriate network or gateway.
- Validate device communication, electrical readings, status and dashboard visibility.
- Ensure accurate device-to-room, device-to-panel or device-to-equipment mapping.
- Verify that the installed devices correspond to the approved BOM and project scope.
- Identify and resolve commissioning failures before declaring a site operational.
- Maintain commissioning checklists, device registers, photographs and test records.
4. Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Diagnose installation failures, connectivity issues, incorrect readings and device configuration problems.
- Troubleshoot basic Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, gateway and MQTT-related connectivity issues as applicable.
- Support device replacement, rewiring and corrective field work.
- Escalate firmware, hardware or complex electrical issues to the relevant technical team.
- Provide technical assistance to the Account Management team for issues that cannot be resolved through routine support.
5. Project Documentation & Handover
- Submit inspection and commissioning reports to the Project Manager.
- Maintain device serial numbers, installation locations, room mapping and configuration records.
- Document pending issues, corrective actions and re-visit requirements.
- Support project closure by confirming technical completion and installation quality.
- Provide complete technical handover documentation to Account Management.
6. SOPs & Execution Quality
- Follow standardized inspection, installation and commissioning SOPs.
- Identify recurring installation issues and recommend improvements.
- Help train electricians and contractors on correct installation practices.
- Ensure that all work follows applicable electrical safety requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation or a related technical discipline.
- 3–4 years of experience in electrical installations, field engineering, commissioning, IoT deployments or technical service operations.
- Practical understanding of electrical distribution systems, MCBs, distribution boards, panels, CTs and electrical measurements.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and follow installation procedures.
- Experience coordinating technicians, electricians or contractors.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites across Delhi NCR and other locations when required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with energy meters, electrical monitoring devices, smart metering, IoT products or building automation.
- Basic familiarity with Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, gateways, MQTT and device commissioning.
- Exposure to Modbus RTU/TCP, RS485, VFDs, contactors or BMS systems.
- Experience in hotels, banks, PG accommodation, commercial buildings or industrial facilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- First-time-right installation and commissioning rate.
- Accuracy of device configuration and room/equipment mapping.
- Timely completion of assigned inspections and installations.
- Reduction in repeat visits caused by installation errors.
- Completeness and accuracy of technical documentation.
- Timely resolution or escalation of technical issues.
- Compliance with installation and electrical safety SOPs.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on engineer who can independently assess a site, guide an electrician remotely, troubleshoot technical problems and confirm that an installation is genuinely operational. The candidate should be equally comfortable working in the field and coordinating execution remotely.
