Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Design Engineer located in Ahmedabad. The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating and developing designs for various products, including electrical and electronic control panels, servo stabilizers, and other specialized devices. Day-to-day tasks will involve using computer-aided design (CAD) software, collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, and ensuring that designs meet industry standards and customer requirements. The role also involves continuous improvement of existing products and participation in project planning and execution. The Design Engineer – Electrical (Control Panel Manufacturing) is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of electrical control panels and automation systems. The role involves preparing detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, and layouts while ensuring compliance with relevant standards, safety norms, and client specifications. The engineer will also coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and cost-effective. Key Responsibilities: Design & Development · Design and develop electrical control panels and wiring systems for automation, PLC, MCC, and distribution panels. · Prepare GA (General Arrangement) drawings, single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, and terminal drawings using AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN. · Select and size components such as circuit breakers, relays, contactors, drives, PLCs, and power supplies based on load calculations and design requirements. · Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes and safety standards (IEC, IS, UL, CE, etc.). Documentation & Standards · Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), cable schedules, and design documentation for production and procurement. · Maintain version control and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date. · Follow standard design templates and company engineering practices. Cross-functional Coordination · Collaborate with mechanical, production, and purchase departments to finalize control panel designs. · Support the production team during wiring, assembly, and testing stages. · Coordinate with vendors and clients for technical clarifications and design approvals. Testing & Validation · Support prototype testing, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and commissioning activities. · Verify design compliance with functional requirements and resolve any design-related issues during testing. · Update as-built drawings and documentation after successful validation. Continuous Improvement · Evaluate existing panel designs for cost, space, and wiring optimization. · Implement design standardization and modular approaches for efficiency. · Stay updated with the latest components, automation technologies, and electrical standards. Skills & Competencies Required: · Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical , EPLAN , or equivalent design software. · Strong understanding of control circuit design , power distribution , and automation systems . · Knowledge of PLC, VFD, HMI integration and control wiring practices. · Familiarity with industrial standards (IEC, IS, UL, CE). · Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. · Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate across departments. Education & Experience: · Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering. · Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical control panel design, preferably in the automation or manufacturing industry.
