Key Responsibilties: Quality Assurance & Control Supervise daily quality inspection activities in the press shop. Conduct in-process, patrol, and final inspections of sheet metal components. Verify compliance with customer drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Ensure adherence to SPC, MSA, and quality documentation as per IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 standards. Monitor critical quality parameters including burrs, cracks, dimensional accuracy, flatness, thickness, and surface finish. Process Monitoring Implement and maintain quality checkpoints for blanking, piercing, bending, and forming operations. Verify First Piece Inspection (FPI) and approve production startup. Collaborate with press operators to minimize rejections and rework. Support tool room and maintenance teams in troubleshooting quality issues related to tools. Customer & Supplier Quality Manage customer complaints using 8D/5-Why analysis and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA). Support PPAP approval and submission for new parts. Monitor the quality performance of outsourced press parts suppliers. Documentation & Compliance Maintain inspection reports, rejection analysis, and quality performance trend records. Ensure compliance with APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, and other OEM requirements. Prepare and present monthly quality performance reports. Team Supervision & Training Lead and guide a team of line inspectors and quality checkers. Train operators on quality standards, defect identification, and prevention methods. Foster a culture of zero-defect manufacturing and continuous improvement. Qualifications: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering. 3 to 7 years of experience in quality assurance/control within press shop or sheet metal auto components industry. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of sheet metal press shop processes and common defects. Proficient in using measuring instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, profile projectors, and CMM. Familiarity with GD&T, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA. Effective problem-solving and root cause analysis skills (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone). Good leadership, communication, and documentation capabilities. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Rejection and rework percentage. First Pass Yield (FPY) in press shop. Customer complaints and PPM levels. Timely closure of corrective actions. Performance in internal and external audits.
