Company: Powertek Utility Services Location: Hyderabad / Remote / Onsite (as per requirement) Employment Type: Full-time / Contract / Part-time (as per requirement) About the Role Powertek Utility Services is hiring an Electrical Engineer with strong experience in underground (UG) distribution cable design (LV/MV/HV as applicable). You will develop complete UG design packages including route planning, duct bank/trench details, cable sizing calculations, protection/grounding inputs, BOM/BOQ, and construction-ready drawings that meet applicable utility standards and codes. Key Responsibilities Develop UG cable system designs for distribution networks (typical 11kV/22kV/33kV and LV ) Perform cable sizing calculations: ampacity, voltage drop, short-circuit, derating, thermal limits Design duct bank / conduit / trench cross-sections , manholes/handholes, pulling sections, and restoration details Prepare construction drawings: plan & profile, typical sections, details, grounding/bonding, splice locations Support route selection: constructability review, clearances, clashes, and utility coordination inputs Develop BOQ/BOM , material takeoffs (MTO), and support cost estimates Provide engineering inputs for protection, grounding, and bonding (sheath bonding, earthing design) Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEC/IEEE, local electrical codes, utility specifications) Support design reviews, RFIs, revisions; coordinate with survey/civil/permitting teams Maintain documentation, design calculations, and QA/QC checklists Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) 2–8 years of relevant experience in UG distribution cable design Strong knowledge of distribution engineering fundamentals: loading, fault levels, voltage drop, equipment ratings Ability to read and interpret utility standards, specifications, and construction practices Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Experience with AutoCAD / MicroStation (Civil 3D is a plus) Familiarity with tools such as CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM, CYME (or equivalent) Experience with jointing/splicing, terminations, cable pulling tension calculations Exposure to GIS/utility mapping and coordination with telecom/water/gas conflicts Knowledge of regional utility UG practices (Canada/Ontario exposure is a plus, if applicable) Deliverables You’ll Produce UG route plans, plan & profile sheets Duct bank/trench/manhole detail drawings Cable schedules, circuit lists Calculation package (ampacity/VD/SC/derating) BOM/MTO and engineering notes Soft Skills Strong attention to detail and drawing discipline Clear communication with cross-functional teams (civil, permitting, field) Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines How to Apply 📩 Email your resume: Apoorva@powertekecp.com 📞 Contact: 6305203313
