Job description POSITION: DG Operator _O&M Site Job Summary: The Power Plant Operator will operate and maintain DG’s used to produce electrical power. Job Description: 1. Takeover from previous shift in writing and understand daily engineering logbook carefully & act accordingly. Understand all activities during handing over/taking over of the previous shift. 2. Carry out periodic scheduled maintenance on Cummins DG Sets like A check & oil top up etc. and schedule for B &C checks will be informed to site. 3. Visual inspection of the entire generator including all equipment supports and mountings- Damages, leakages, improper ventilation, excessive heat, or anything which pose a potential hazard to the personnel and property. 4. Take the round of DG plant including cooling towers – Cleaning and tidiness of DG Set to be maintained also ensure that all related parts and accessories are in working condition, if any abnormality is observed the same shall be reported immediately. 5. Inspect the fuel system including supply lines and connection, day tanks level and ensuring the desired fuel pressure. 6. Check fuel level in all day/ UG tanks and valve condition of fuel line. All valves (except pass/by- pass valve) should be locked in open position. Diesel Stock to be maintained in case of any shortage the same to be reported immediately. 7. Cleaning of DG sets by keeping individual DG set in manual mode. DG set to be turned to AUTO mode after completion of cleaning process. 8. Check lube oil level and coolant level in DG sets and raise the requirement if needed. 9. Check battery voltage and ensure there is no loose connection. Physical inspection of Batteries i.e., Check the body temperature of battery, terminal connection, vent plugs, leakages etc. periodic check of specific gravity of battery electrolyte. 10. Physical inspection of charger to ensure it is ON and batteries are charged. Ensure charger works in auto mode. 11. Check for any leakage in DG like Lube oil, fuel, or coolant from hose pipes/ sump, fuel pump, filter etc. Specific Experience: Candidate fresher or 2-3 years of experience with knowledge of Diesel Genset and accessories. Educational Qualification: Diploma/ITI in Electrical/Mechanical. Physical Requirements: 1. Ability to work rotating shifts. 2. Must be able to maintain attention for long periods of time.

Perform routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance of DG sets, alternators, AMF/ATS panels, and associated control systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including wiring, control circuits, and protection systems. Ensure optimal fuel efficiency and load management of DG sets. Maintain logs, service reports, and documentation of breakdowns and maintenance activities. Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and internal teams for spares procurement and technical support. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, statutory requirements, and company policies. Support energy audits and suggest improvements for reliability and cost efficiency. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of DG sets (5 kVA – 2000 kVA) and electrical distribution systems. Hands-on experience with AMF/ATS panels, synchronizing panels, and PLC-based controls. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Good problem-solving and analytical skills. Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
