As a PostgreSQL Database Architect (DBA) at our Enterprise Software & Data Infrastructure company in India, your role will involve leading the design of Postgres platform, ensuring production operations are secure and resilient, and implementing automation at scale. **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and operating production PostgreSQL clusters with a strong emphasis on high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and maintaining replication topologies, partitioning/sharding strategies, and connection pooling for large-scale workloads. Additionally, you will play a key role in advanced performance tuning, defining backup & recovery processes, and automating provisioning and upgrades using Infrastructure-as-Code. **Key Responsibilities:** - Architect, implement, and operate production PostgreSQL clusters with a focus on high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability. - Design and maintain replication topologies, partitioning/sharding strategies, and connection pooling for large-scale workloads. - Perform advanced performance tuning including query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution-plan analysis. - Define and execute robust backup & recovery processes, run DR exercises, and validate restore procedures using tools like pgBackRest. - Automate provisioning, upgrades, patching, and runbooks using Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management. - Establish best practices for database engineering including configuration standards, observability, capacity planning, and security hardening. **Qualifications Required:** - Proven experience managing production PostgreSQL at scale in enterprise environments. - Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience in defining DR plans, capacity planning, security controls, and runbook-based incident response. - Ability to work on-site in India and collaborate effectively with engineering, SRE, and security teams.
