Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to prevent breakdowns. Use a variety of testing devices, such as ohmmeters and voltmeters, to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems. Repair or replace faulty or outdated electrical equipment, wiring, and fixtures. Install and connect electrical control and distribution equipment, including switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Install and run conduit pipe to protect and route electrical wiring. Adhere to all local and national electrical codes, safety standards (such as OSHA), and building regulations. Complete work orders and documentation of all services performed, repairs made, and materials used. Communicate with clients, contractors, and other tradespeople to coordinate work schedules and project timelines. Supervise and train apprentice electricians, when applicable. Respond to emergency service calls for electrical malfunctions and power outages. Qualifications and Skills Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certificate from a technical college is preferred. Training: Successful completion of an electrician apprenticeship program is preferred. Experience: Proven work experience as an electrician in a relevant environment (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial). Licensing: Valid state-issued electrician's license is required. Technical Skills: Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment. Deep knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and components.
