Project Engineer - Instrumentation, Cable Laying & Automation Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Project Engineer to manage and execute instrumentation cabling works, including cable laying, termination up to PLC/DCS panels, automation system integration, and vendor coordination. The role demands hands-on experience in field instrumentation and automation projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Instrumentation & Cabling Works - Supervise and execute instrument cable laying, routing, and dressing as per project drawings and standards. - Manage cable termination works at field instruments, junction boxes, marshalling panels, and PLC/DCS panels. - Ensure correct loop checking, continuity testing, and insulation resistance testing of cables. PLC / Automation Integration - Coordinate with design teams for PLC panel drawings, I/O list, and termination details. - Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of automation systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS). - Support software team during logic testing and FAT/SAT. Vendor / Contractor Management - Manage and coordinate vendors and contractors for instrumentation and cabling works at site. - Verify contractor work progress, quality, and adherence to project timelines. - Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Documentation & Reporting - Prepare and maintain as-built drawings, cable schedules, termination details, and loop diagrams. - Generate regular reports on project progress, risks, and resource needs. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical / Automation Engineering. - 3-7 years of experience in instrumentation cabling, PLC/DCS automation projects, and vendor management. - Hands-on knowledge of cable types, glandings, termination practices, and cable testing procedures. - Good understanding of PLC/DCS hardware, control system architecture, and field instrumentation. - Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, termination drawings, and cable schedules. - Strong communication, vendor coordination, and team management skills. Preferred Experience: - Experience in water treatment, power plants, process industries, or similar sectors. - Exposure to SCADA integration and network cabling (Ethernet/Profibus/Modbus). - Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, ISA, IS) related to instrumentation cabling.
