Navigation and Watchkeeping:Assume responsibility for the navigation of the vessel during assigned watches Conduct regular assessments of navigational equipment and ensure their proper functioning Safety and Emergency Response:Implement and enforce safety procedures in accordance with international maritime regulations Act as a key member of the emergency response team during drills and actual emergencies Cargo Operations:Supervise and coordinate cargo loading and unloading operations Ensure proper stowage and securing of cargo to maintain vessel stability Communication:Maintain clear and effective communication with the Captain, crew members, and relevant shore-based personnel Keep accurate navigational records and logs Security:Implement security measures in accordance with international maritime security protocols Conduct regular security drills Watch Handovers:Conduct thorough handovers at the commencement and conclusion of each watch, ensuring all relevant information is communicated to the incoming watchkeeping officer Weather Routing:Monitor weather conditions and route the vessel to ensure safe and efficient passage Utilize weather routing software and tools for optimal navigation Qualifications:Valid STCW II/ Officer of the Watch (OOW) certification Previous experience as a nd Officer or equivalent on a similar vessel Proficiency in the use of navigational and communication equipment Strong leadership and decision-making skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
