Designation: ERP Odoo Functional Consultant
1. Job Purpose
The ERP Odoo Functional Consultant will be responsible for understanding business requirements across SHM Group's various business verticals and translating them into effective ERP solutions using Odoo. The role involves ERP implementation, configuration, business process mapping, user training, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous system improvement to ensure seamless integration of business operations.
The position will work closely with functional departments, business heads, process owners, and the technical team to ensure that Odoo supports the company's operational efficiency, internal controls, reporting requirements, and future business growth.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Business Process Analysis and Requirement Gathering
- Understand existing business processes across departments and business verticals.
- Conduct discussions with stakeholders to identify operational requirements, process gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), and process flow diagrams.
- Map existing workflows to standard Odoo functionalities and recommend suitable solutions.
- Identify opportunities for process automation, standardisation, and improved internal controls.
B. Odoo ERP Implementation and Configuration
- Configure and implement Odoo modules based on approved business requirements.
- Work on modules such as:
- Sales and CRM
- Purchase and Vendor Management
- Inventory and Warehouse Management
- Manufacturing and Production
- Accounting and Finance
- HR, Employee Management, and Recruitment
- Project Management and Timesheets
- Maintenance and Quality, wherever applicable
- Configure user roles, access rights, approval workflows, automated activities, and business rules.
- Support integration between different Odoo modules and ensure smooth end-to-end transaction flows.
- Assist in implementing standardised processes across SHM Group companies and branches.
C. Functional Design and Technical Coordination
- Translate functional requirements into clear specifications for the Odoo development team.
- Coordinate with developers for customisation, reports, dashboards, integrations, and additional functionalities.
- Evaluate whether requirements can be addressed through standard Odoo features, configuration, or custom development.
- Review customised solutions to ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Support API and third-party application integration from a functional perspective.
D. Testing and Quality Assurance
- Prepare test scenarios, test cases, and user acceptance testing (UAT) plans.
- Conduct functional testing, integration testing, and regression testing.
- Coordinate with end users to validate system functionality before deployment.
- Identify, document, and track defects until resolution.
- Ensure that changes are tested and approved before being moved into the production environment.
E. Data Migration and Master Data Management
- Support data cleansing, validation, mapping, and migration from existing systems or Excel files into Odoo.
- Maintain data accuracy for customers, vendors, products, employees, warehouses, and other master records.
- Coordinate data reconciliation and resolve migration discrepancies.
- Establish appropriate controls for master data creation, modification, and approval.
G. ERP Support and Continuous Improvement
- Provide functional support for day-to-day Odoo issues and troubleshoot transaction or workflow-related problems.
- Analyse recurring issues and coordinate with the technical team for permanent resolution.
- Manage functional change requests and maintain a record of approved enhancements.
- Monitor ERP adoption, process compliance, and data quality.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, workflow automation, and operational visibility.
H. Reporting, MIS and Management Information
- Configure and validate operational reports, dashboards, and management information reports.
- Support reporting requirements relating to sales, procurement, inventory, production, projects, finance, and HR.
- Ensure reports provide accurate, timely, and actionable business information.
- Assist management in establishing ERP-based performance monitoring and process tracking.
4. Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- MBA, PGDM, or a certification in ERP, Business Analysis, or Odoo will be an added advantage.
- Relevant Odoo functional certifications or implementation training are preferred.
5. Experience
- Approximately 3–6 years of relevant experience in ERP functional consulting, preferably with Odoo ERP.
- Hands-on experience in Odoo implementation, configuration, business process mapping, testing, and user support.
- Experience in multi-department or multi-company ERP implementations will be preferred.
- Exposure to manufacturing, marine services, trading, supply chain, project operations, or engineering businesses will be an advantage
