Purpose of Job The position holder is accountable and responsible for planning, directing and evaluating activities of the nursing department, including implementation of the department's philosophy and goals, standards for nursing practice and the management and development of nursing personnel. He/She provides leadership in all nursing activities of the organization Administrative Formulate and disseminate the nursing mission and philosophy Determine goals, aims, objectives and policies of the Nursing Services Implement hospital policies and rules through various nursing units Provide written short and long-term plans designed to implement and facilitate achievement of department objectives Take responsibility for the direct patient care given in the hospital Develop, review, approve and enforce written departmental policies and procedures Prepare a written plan of response by nurses in case of internal or external disaster and prepare for implementation in case of necessity Participate in the development of overall direction and policies for the health care organization based on the health needs of the community Participate in policy decisions that affect patient care services Develop a nursing master staffing plan-using input from the nursing units Determine and communicate resources needed for the nursing department to carry out its functions and submit written reports as required Estimate needs for facilities, supplies and equipment Assist in the preparation and administration of the nursing department budget Institute a system for evaluation and control of supply levels including a written reporting system. Collaborate with the administrative staff, other department personnel and representatives of allied groups in planning services for patients Establish and maintain an effective system of records and reports Maintain good working relationship and frequent liaison with other department managers Communicate regularly with the Higher management and give input on all matters related to nursing. Formulate, implement and evaluate a nursing personnel management program. Supervise and mentor the managerial cadre in nursing administration Hold regular meetings with nursing incharges individually and collectively Develop a mechanism for nursing staff to give input into nursing administration decisions. Clinical Practices Make daily rounds on the patient care areas Encourage a collaborative model of patient care by providing opportunity for nursing personnel to plan with the medical staff and other disciplines for the total needs of patients. Oversee the development and timely revision of nursing procedures to enhance quality of care. Attend to patient complaints unresolved at lower levels Keep abreast of new technological developments in nursing and health care. Evaluate clinical competency of nurses according to the established Competency Assessment program

Purpose of Job Ensure efficient hospital operations through smooth working of various clinical and non-clinical departments thereby contributing to excellence in patient services Specific Job Responsibilities Operational Management and Planning To manage a range of clinical services and non-clinical services Daily rounds of floors to ensure that all the required resources, staff and equipment are in place Ensure systems are in place to monitor and evaluate performance against defined service standards Develop and maintain effective communication both within the services and with relevant outside agencies Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance and service expansion Develop expertise and day to day operational knowledge of IT systems and databases Able to provide on call support to teams as required by the organization Writing the policy manual of the respective departments in accordance with the standard practices Ensuring that there is no financial fraud /forgery and the billing scrolls are settled on daily basis Professional Leadership Design the strategic direction of the service delivery Provide Line management responsibility for all components within designated Services, undertaking recruitment, appraisal, disciplinary, grievance etc, as part of the team management Ensure that effective communication mechanisms are in place to engage staff and staff organisations, recognising the particular challenges associated with a dispersed workforce Contribute to the development and delivery of Clinical Leadership at organizational and strategic level and actively support the development of clinical leadership skills across all disciplines. Ensure that the workforce is effectively managed and developed and that employment policies/practices are adhered to Identify training needs where necessary, contributing to the design, commissioning and implementation of education and training to meet the requirements of the service and the needs of patients. Lead the PG students program in the hospital administratively under the guidance of the institute Head Ensuring that the documents of the Legal compliances of the Hospital are maintained at all given point of time. Maintain and update the statutory compliance tracker and liasioning with e the respective authorities wherever necessary Quality Assurance Identifying and capturing the key performance indicators of the various departments and laying down their benchmarks Ensuring root cause analysis and CAPA in case the benchmark is crossed Designing quality improvement projects and monitoring their implementation Part of the various hospital committees Leading the various quality accreditation programs of the hospital like NABH,JCI ,NABL etc Part of the various audit committees Patient Management Daily rounds of various service departments Meeting patients who have concerns and resolving the same Handling irate /difficult patients Handling violent /abusive / patients with psychiatric issues /absconding /irate relatives /VVIP patients Handling patient who have billing /affordability issue and guiding them to correct authorities
