As the HR Manager you will serve as the key HR lead for NBEE’s Thane facility. Your core responsibilities will include ensuring full statutory compliance, drafting and implementing HR policies and frameworks, managing end-to-end recruitment, and supporting overall HR operations. You will report directly to senior management and play a strategic part in shaping the HR function of a high-growth engineering firm. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Statutory Management Ensure full adherence to labour laws and applicable statutory regulations (PF, ESIC, PT, gratuity, Shops & Establishments Act, etc.). Maintain and update all required registers, documentation and compliance schedules. Liaise with external auditors, government agencies and consultants. Conduct periodic audits, ensure license renewals and compliance controls are in place. Policy & HR Frameworks Draft, implement and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, SOPs and performance management systems. Set up processes for attendance, leave management, appraisals, disciplinary measures and HR reporting. Recommend HR best-practices suited to an SME manufacturing/engineering setting. Recruitment & Onboarding Manage full life-cycle recruitment for both technical and non-technical roles, collaborating with department heads. Define job descriptions, screen candidates, conduct interviews and oversee onboarding of selected talent. Build and maintain a recruitment pipeline, ensure time-to-hire metrics are met. Employee Relations & Engagement Handle employee queries, grievances and support a positive work-environment. Plan and execute engagement initiatives, internal communications and team-build activities. Support managers in performance/disciple matters, exit and retention processes. HR Operations & Payroll Coordinate monthly payroll inputs, deductions and liaise with the finance team. Maintain HR database, personnel files, HRIS and records. Monitor attendance, leaves, statutory deductions and support HR administration. Key Skills & Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s in HR, Labour Law, Business Management or related field. Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with at least some part in manufacturing/engineering/SME context. Deep knowledge of Indian labour laws, compliance frameworks and HR policies. Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Independent, proactive, organised and able to work with senior management in a standalone HR capacity.
