Job Title: Manager Instrument Lab Location:[Jodhpur,Rajasthan] Department: Instrument Lab Reports To: General Manager Job Summary: The Manager – Instrument Lab holds a team-leader role overseeing all operations of the Instrument Laboratory and Instrumental Analysis. This role demands strategic oversight, technical expertise, team leadership, and compliance with global regulatory standards. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the lab delivers accurate, timely, and reliable analytical results and supports quality control and development as per regulatory needs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY Provide strategic direction for Instrument lab operations and continuous improvement. Lead cross-functional collaboration with the Team, QA, and BD. Drive innovation and modernization of lab capabilities through new technologies and practices. OPERATIONAL OVERSIGHT Supervise all testing activities of Instrument Lab. Oversee daily operations of the instrument laboratory to ensure timely and accurate analysis. Manage resources, including manpower planning, procurement of lab consumables, and equipment maintenance. Ensure timely release of test results. Responsible for reviewing reports and authorization of results. Resolve the Technical Queries Quality management System maintenance in Lab Customer interaction and Business growth REGULATORY & QUALITY COMPLIANCE Ensure strict compliance with global quality standards (GLP, ISO 17025:2017,EIC,APEDA,FSSAI,TEA BOARD, IOPEPC, AYUSH, AGMARK, Spice Board and other boards). Review and approve SOPs, analytical reports, deviations, OOS investigations, and CAPAs. Lead lab readiness for regulatory, internal, and customer audits. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT Mentor, develop, and evaluate a team of analysts, chemists, and Assistant Manager & Managers. Foster a high-performance culture, promoting ownership, accountability, and safety. Provide training, mentoring, and performance evaluations Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. METHOD DEVELOPMENT & VALIDATION Oversee method development, validation, and transfer for new products and processes as per International and regulatory guidelines requirements. Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting and complex analytical challenges. Optimization of Methods, Data evaluations, SOPs, MU Approve technical protocols, SOP, validation reports, and training materials. STRATEGIC PLANNING & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Manage laboratory budgets, procurements, and resource allocation. Plan capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, and technology implementation. Implement lab automation and digital tools to improve efficiency. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION Coordinate with QA, Microbiology, Purchase, Account, HR, CRM and Supply Chain to support productivity and troubleshooting. Represent the lab in cross-functional meetings and strategic discussions. Execute the task as per Management Requirements and Senior Requirements SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT Enforce adherence to EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols. Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs). QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Technology or related discipline. 10–12 years of experience in a chemical, AYUSH, Cosmetics or similar industry with several years of Leadership role. Strong command of instrumental analytical techniques (LC-MSMS,GC-MSMS,ICP-MS,GC-FID/ECD/HS,HPLC/UPLC). An FSSAI-approved food analyst will be the primary choice. Hands-on experience in regulatory audits like NABL, APEDA, EIC, IOPEPC, FSSAI, Spice Board, AYUSH etc Proven leadership and project management skills. PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience with LIMS or electronic data management systems. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. MAJOR ROLE: The Head of Department (HOD) is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Microbiology laboratory, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025:2017 standards and other regulatory requirements. The HOD leads a team of technical personnel and manages laboratory operations, ensures quality control, maintains accreditation, and drives continuous improvement to deliver accurate and reliable food safety testing results. RESPONSIBILITIES Microbiology Department 1. Laboratory Management Oversee daily operations, including staff management, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ensure all laboratory activities comply with ISO 17025:2017 and relevant regulations. Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain operational efficiency. 2. Quality Assurance and Compliance Maintain and enhance the laboratorys ISO 17025:2017 accreditation by ensuring compliance with management and technical requirements. Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, such as those from the FSSAI, EIC & APEDA & others. Implement and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) per ISO 17025:2017 standards. Conduct internal audits, manage non-conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Coordinate external audits and assessments by accreditation bodies and customers. 3. Technical Oversight Provide technical leadership for food testing methodologies for microbiological testing. Ensure the validity, reliability, and accuracy of test results. Stay updated on advancements in food testing technologies and regulatory requirements. Oversee method validation, proficiency testing, and metrological traceability. Reviewing and verifying raw data, as well as authorization of Test-Reports. 4. Personnel Management Recruit, train, and develop laboratory staff to ensure competency in their roles. Conduct performance evaluations and support continuous professional development. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Ensure staff are trained in ISO 17025:2017 requirements and laboratory safety protocols. 5. Stakeholder Communication Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and accreditation bodies to meet expectations. Prepare and present reports on laboratory performance, compliance, and test results. Represent the laboratory in meetings, conferences, and industry forums. 6. Budget and Resource Management Manage the laboratory budget, including equipment procurement, maintenance, and calibration. Ensure efficient resource use to meet operational needs while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Plan and implement upgrades to laboratory infrastructure and technology. 7. Risk Management Identify and mitigate risks related to laboratory operations, such as contamination or equipment failures. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of food samples and hazardous materials. Skills and Competencies Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team. Quality Management: Proficiency in implementing and maintaining ISO 17025:2017-compliant quality systems. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of microbiological food testing techniques.
