About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and support mission-critical SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, Change Data Capture (CDC), and production support across multiple environments. The role requires close collaboration with Data Engineering and Platform teams to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of database systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain SQL Server databases across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities.
• Perform query tuning, index optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
• Support implementation and enforcement of data retention, archival, and deletion policies.
• Configure, monitor, and maintain SQL Server CDC processes supporting downstream data platforms and Amazon Redshift ingestion.
• Execute database backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability operations.
• Ensure database security, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and provide timely resolution.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, and Data Platform teams on database-related initiatives.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration across large-scale production environments.
• Experience with SQL Server CDC (Change Data Capture) and downstream data integration pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, execution plans, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Experience implementing data retention, archival, and deletion policies.
• Expertise in backup and recovery strategies, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR).
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2 and DynamoDB.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Amazon Redshift or enterprise data warehouse environments.
• Exposure to database partitioning and large-scale data management.
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications are a plus.
• Experience working in highly regulated or compliance-driven environments.
