Job description The Casualty Medical Officer is responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients presenting to the emergency/casualty department, including assessment, stabilization, treatment, and coordination of further care. Key Responsibilities Assess, triage, and manage patients arriving in the casualty/emergency department Provide immediate life-saving interventions and emergency treatment Stabilize critically ill or injured patients Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation Coordinate with consultants, nurses, and other hospital staff for patient care Arrange admissions, referrals, transfers, or discharges as required Follow hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and safety standards Handle medico-legal cases and ensure proper documentation Communicate clearly with patients and relatives regarding condition and care Participate in emergency drills and quality improvement activities Qualifications & Experience MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution Valid medical council registration Prior experience in emergency medicine preferred (freshers may apply depending on hospital policy) Certification in BLS/ACLS is an added advantage Skills & Competencies Strong clinical and decision-making skills Ability to work under pressure and manage emergencies Good communication and teamwork skills Basic computer and EMR knowledge Ethical and professional conduct Working Conditions Shift-based duty (including nights, weekends, and holidays) Fast-paced and high-pressure environment
