To assist doctors to coordinate patient’s treatments and orders. - To provide support to doctors and embryologists when required. - To coordinate treatment plans that fertility doctors formulate with couples starting at the initial visit. - To coordinate patient`s treatments and/or procedures, such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), etc. - To manage patient’s waiting lists, maintenance and scheduling cycles. ie. Schedule Embryo Transfers, Embryo Retrievals, Frozen Eggs Cycles and Intrauterine Insemination, under supervision of Clinician. - Assess patients plan and implementation of care. - To explain to the customer the whole IVF treatment process step by step. - To educate patients on individual treatment plans, medication instruction (schedule, dosage and administration) anticipatory guidance, clarification of physician instructions. - To perform patient and family education. - To instruct patients on how to administer the fertility medications, including how to administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. - To have close contact with patients to follow the treatment plan. - To assure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards. - To know the basics of embryology, andrology, endocrinology, gynaecology, obstetrics, genetics and information technology. - To provide support in consultation and transvaginal scanning. - To be aware of the O.T. protocols and the layout. - To supervise carbolisation and ensure it is done regularly and effectively. - To periodically monitor the use of disinfectants. - To identify instruments as per the surgery, check cleanliness and proper functioning of instruments, pack and send for autoclaving / gas sterilization. - To ensure that all the materials needed for the surgeries and instrument sets, Linen, Gowns, etc., are available. - To check the instrument trolley carefully and record items likely to be left inside. - To receive the patient in the preoperative area, check for the right patient, correct documents, and for the right procedure and transfer to the Operation Theatre. - To accompany IP patients for investigations, if advised. - To follow pre-anaesthetic medications if any. - To check the preparation of the patient for cleanliness, skin shaving for the procedure. - To check for the right patient, site of surgery, type of surgery, and operating surgeon when the anaesthetist calls, “Time out” inside the operation theatre. - To adhere to Medication safety and surgical safety protocols. - To recheck instrument trolley items as per the record and give clearance to the surgeon for closing. - To ensure the patient is shifted properly to the recovery room as soon as the anaesthetist gives the clearance. - To monitor patient in recovery room till discharge. - To wash and check the functioning of instruments and dispatch for autoclaving. - To handle waste segregation and disposal as per the policy. - To be aware and implement Infection Control Measures, hand washing technique. - To complete IVF infection data as per the proforma daily. - To follow the dress code in and out of the restricted areas. - To follow NABH and Nursing Excellence standards. - To follow strictly all safety measures involved in patient care and self-protection. - To be aware of the patient rights and preserve the same. - To maintain confidentiality of patient information: medical and personal; avoids any violation by ensuring no discussion of patient identifiable information in non-secure areas. - Any errors in medication / nursing intervention to be brought immediately to the notice of NS. - To be included in a rota system to cover weekends when needed. - To complete patient activity billing sheet. Ä Fulfilling the Service Vision & Inter-department Coordination: - Is well-groomed as per standard; maintains discipline and decorum. - Fulfills the implementation of the Service Vision – ensures personalized care while delivering service. - Coordinates with support departments to ensure patient and attendants are comfortable and services are as per standard. - Maintains a cordial interpersonal relationship with all colleagues. Ä Tasks: - Ensures no misuse or wastage of material, contributes to cost control. - Assists with material management – documentation, Indenting, receiving stock, storage and usage. - Takes over and hands over accurately at change of shifts. - Maintains the medical and nursing records of patients as per the institutional requirements. - Collects data accurately as per protocol; collects data for Nursing Quality Indicators. - Willingly accepts additional tasks, deployment based on operational requirement.
