Role & responsibilities - Lead the conceptualization and design development of interior-related products including custom furniture, fixtures, built-ins, and architectural elements - Establish and articulate clear design intent, narratives, and product logic - Translate concepts into high-quality drawings, 3D models, and visual representations - Guide and review detailing, prototyping, and design refinement, ensuring buildability without diluting intent - Oversee preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation - Research and define material palettes, finishes, joinery systems, and fabrication approaches - Mentor and guide junior designers, offering critique and direction to elevate overall studio output - Coordinate remotely with interior designers, consultants, and internal teams across projects - Maintain design quality, consistency, and clarity across multiple concurrent workstreams Preferred candidate profile - 2 to 5 years of experience in product design, furniture design, industrial design, or interior-adjacent design, with leadership responsibility - Strong proficiency in tools such as Rhino, AutoCAD, Fusion, SketchUp, or equivalent (tool-agnostic mindset) - Advanced understanding of materials, finishes, construction methods, and fabrication constraints - Ability to translate conceptual ideas into buildable, production-ready solutions - Experience guiding others through critique, iteration, and refinement - Clear, confident communicator both visually and verbally - Comfortable working independently in a remote, distributed team environment Design Leadership & Thinking - A designer with clear authorship and point of view, not trend-driven styling - Comfortable taking ownership of design decisions and defending intent with logic - Enjoys ambiguity and shaping direction in early-stage concepts - Strong sensitivity to proportion, detail, tactility, and material expression Nice to Have (Not Mandatory) - Experience working with high-end interior design studios or architecture firms - Experience coordinating with vendors, fabricators, or workshops - A portfolio demonstrating concept-to-execution thinking, with sketches, process, and built outcomes What This Role Is Not - Not a drafting-only or support role - Not trend-chasing or catalog-driven design - Not limited to execution without authorship This role is for someone who wants to shape design culture, influence outcomes, and build a body of work rooted in narratives, craft, and intelligence.
