The BCC is now known as BCN (Bain Capability Network) with its nodes across various geographies. BCN is an integral and largest unit of (ECD) Expert Client Delivery. ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutioning across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.
Who you will work with
Corporate Finance teams are part of ‘Corporate Strategy and Finance solution (CS&F)’. CS&F works as an innovation partner for Bain’s Global strategy practice to enable cutting-edge Intellectual property (IP) / Point of view (PoV) development & commercialization and flawless client delivery. Our strength lies in our people who are experts across different aspects of the strategy topic vis-a-vis business and corporate strategy, CEO and leadership ways of working and corporate finance, backed by solid capabilities around research, analytics, and stakeholder management.
Corporate Finance team works with Bain teams across the globe with solutions to corporate finance and capital markets related aspects. We have a wide array of highly customizable offerings and tailored analyses to address key CXO concerns. Focus is on equipping the C-Suite with the right tools to shape their agenda on long-term shareholder value creation. The team conducts financial diagnostics for client companies, codifies Bain’s intellectual property and contributes to new intellectual property.
Alongside this core diagnostic, modelling and valuation work, we build and run a growing set of proprietary AI-enabled tools that change how quickly Bain can analyse a company and shape a value creation agenda. Operating across Gurugram and Mexico City, we work with case teams across geographies and industries; however, we focus almost exclusively on Corporate Finance domain-related projects geared towards Capital Markets. Managers here get both: rigorous corporate finance delivery, and a front-row seat on the tooling that is reshaping how it gets done
About you
- Graduate or postgraduate with a specialisation in finance and a strong academic record. CFA (Level 1 passed or above) and or CA preferred; CA candidates should have meaningful exposure to capital markets or valuation. Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint assumed
- 8-11 years of relevant experience in investment banking, equity research, or consulting with corporate finance exposure (6-9 years if your highest qualification is postgraduate)
- Strong command of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and underlying valuation principles. You can trace how a change in one financial metric flows through the statements and into valuation, and read financial data for what it means: why growth, margins, returns, multiples or leverage look the way they do, and the competitive dynamics sitting behind them
- Should have created financial models from scratch rather than updating set templates, with the focus on strategic choices and their impact on valuation rather than valuation mechanics alone
- Strong inclination towards Capital Markets, and abreast of the prevailing economic environment, stock markets and capital flows
- Able to cross-link business models and industry dynamics, using the key drivers and KPIs behind operational and financial performance to generate a compelling equity story with a focus on the ‘so what’
- Fluency with AI tools is strongly preferred and will differentiate candidates. We are looking for someone who already works this way rather than someone who intends to start. Be ready to point to specifics: an analysis or deliverable you materially accelerated using tools such as Claude or ChatGPT, a prompt or workflow you designed and handed to colleagues, or a manual process you removed
- A technical mindset is a genuine advantage. Exposure to Python, financial data APIs, or building lightweight tools all count. You do not need to be an engineer. You do need to be curious about how things are built and willing to get into the mechanics yourself rather than delegating them
- Structured thinker with sound business logic and thought leadership, able to frame an approach to a complex, ambiguous question and stand behind the answer
- Articulate and compelling in oral and written communication skills; engaging and concise with interpersonal "presence"; adaptable across executive, technical, and Bain audiences
- Prior experience managing and leading teams: allocating and reviewing work, coaching and mentoring, conducting performance discussions, and writing appraisal reviews
- Entrepreneurial, proactive and productive; instinctively sees what needs to be done, rallies colleagues, rolls up the sleeves and gets it done
What you’ll do
- Direct the team on corporate finance and capital markets projects and case delivery, owning close relationships with Partners, Bain case teams, and practice areas
- Working with the CoE Director, lead 2 teams of Project Leads, Associates and Analysts to produce client-ready research and insights, and drive the team’s overall answer, final materials, client communication, and work planning. Teams conduct financial diagnostics for client companies, codify Bain’s intellectual property, and contribute to new IP
- Own quality end to end: select the right analytical approach for the question, pressure-test the logic, and hold an error-free bar across every workstream
- Manage senior Bain stakeholders and set the right expectations, pushing past the brief to the ‘so what’ and to what more the team could be doing
- Use and champion AI in day-to-day delivery. Apply tools such as Claude and ChatGPT along with proprietary CF AI tools to accelerate research, analysis and drafting; help the team adopt them well and safely; and feed real delivery experience into the AI tools the CoE builds
- Own staffing and workload across your teams, assigning specific workstreams and managing capacity appropriately
- Coach and develop the team: give meaningful, actionable feedback in every interaction, run performance discussions, write appraisals, and build people towards leadership roles on BCN teams
- Act as a business owner: grow the CF footprint, add new offerings and IP under the CF umbrella, and build the case for them with practice stakeholders
- Contribute to the wider BCN agenda through recruiting (on-campus, industry and other channels), training, resource planning, and business strategy initiatives
