The Mainframe IMS Database Administrator position requires a professional with a minimum of 6+ years of experience. As the IMS Database Administrator (DBA) for Mainframe applications, you will be responsible for managing IMS DB/DC environments in both on-line and Batch settings. Your primary duties will include conducting performance monitoring and tuning activities, backup and recovery processes, as well as troubleshooting applications on IMS databases. In this role, you will be expected to make changes to IMS databases in Test and Production environments based on application requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a database backup and recovery strategy, along with creating DBDs, PSBs, and ACBs as needed. A strong understanding of IMS Utilities and DBRC is essential for this position. Experience in database initialization, forward recovery, building secondary index and pointer checker, as well as checkpoint restart procedures is required. As part of the role, you will be expected to provide production support on-call 24/7, offering troubleshooting and problem determination services during outages or daily issues. Monitoring space utilization and assisting with testing and validating database software upgrades, particularly IMS v14, are also key responsibilities. Moreover, the Mainframe IMS Database Administrator will play a crucial role in administering databases throughout the development and production lifecycles. Excellent communication skills will be necessary to effectively collaborate with team members, clients, and leadership.
