Job Summary Your Impact: As a Principal Software Developer, you will define and own the target-state architecture for decomposing a monolithic .NET application into containerized modern .NET (.NET 8+) microservices deployed on a Kubernetes (Linux) platform on Google Cloud Platform (GKE). You will set technical direction, service boundaries, and standards, and guide engineering teams through highly complex design, migration, and infrastructure decisions.
Responsibilities - Define the microservices decomposition strategy (e.g., strangler-fig pattern) and service/domain boundaries for the monolith
- Own the technical roadmap for migrating from .NET Framework to modern .NET (.NET 8+)
- Architect containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes deployment topology for Linux environments, including networking, scaling, and service mesh considerations
- Define API contracts, inter-service communication (REST/gRPC/messaging), and data ownership boundaries
- Produce high-quality architecture and design specifications; deliver POCs and estimates at short notice on technology choices
- Lead architecture/design reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards
- Set standards for observability, security, and GitLab CI/CD across all microservices
- Mentor Lead and Senior Engineers; guide them to deliver high-quality design and code
- Work across teams (including the UI/Frontend team) to ensure interoperability and integration
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of enterprise product development/architecture experience
- Expert knowledge of C#, .NET Framework, and modern .NET (.NET 8+), with hands-on experience modernizing large enterprise applications.
- Strong hands-on experience designing microservices architectures and decomposing large monolithic systems using Domain-Driven Design and appropriate architectural patterns.
- Expert experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Helm, Ingress, ConfigMaps/Secrets) on Linux
- Strong knowledge of GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Artifactory for build/artifact and container image management, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong experience with messaging and event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Excellent understanding of API design (REST/gRPC), security, and performance at enterprise scale
- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
Preferred Skills - Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio/Linkerd)
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot
- Content management and Capture (IDP) domain experience would be a plus
- Experience with OpenText products would be a plus
