Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for an Agronomist, located in Kanayannur. The Agronomist will be responsible for conducting soil science research, advising on plant nutrition and irrigation practices, and implementing agricultural strategies to optimize crop production. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing soil health, providing recommendations on fertilizers and irrigation, and collaborating with farmers to improve overall productivity and sustainability. Roles & Responsibilities Strong knowledge in Soil Science and Plant NutritionManage all land development activities, including shade net installation. Supervise a team of labourers as per operational requirements.Oversee irrigation and fertigation system management, including the preparation of a detailed fertilizatio schedule.Conduct training sessions on fertigation practices and pump house operations.Prepare and apply insecticides and fungicides, and coordinate grading operations with the team.Manage the complete process of harvesting, packing, and grading alongside the teamDevelop a Package of Practices (POP) and cost estimates for different crops.Operate the Farm ERP system on a daily basis for data entry and tracking.Experience in Agriculture and Irrigation practicesProven research skills in agriculture-related fieldsExcellent communication skills with the ability to effectively advise farmersPerform daily plot scouting for various crops to monitor crop health and detect issues early.Reporting to your immediate head on daily basis and following instruction given by HO- Pune.Making sure you achieve your target given by HO. It is essential to note that this is a site-based role, requiring your presence at the Mukai site throughout the assignment period. Your key responsibilities will involve managing field operations, including planning, scheduling, and supervising daily agricultural activities such as land preparation, sowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting. You will be responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted as per the crop calendar and company guidelines, monitoring crop health, and promptly reporting any issues to the management. Additionally, you will lead and guide field workers, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety standards. Allocating work, tracking attendance, and monitoring task completion will be part of your duties, along with conducting on-the-job training for labor on best practices. You will also oversee the proper usage and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, manage the stock of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other inputs, and ensure optimal resource utilization to control costs effectively. Your role will also involve maintaining daily activity logs, input usage records, and crop progress reports, along with submitting regular updates to management on work status and challenges faced. Compliance with quality and operational standards will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. To qualify for this position, you should have a B.Sc. in Agriculture or a Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, along with at least 15 years of experience in agricultural/farm supervision. Strong knowledge of crop production practices, farm management, good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. You should be able to work in outdoor conditions and effectively manage teams to ensure operational efficiency. Please note that this role requires a mandatory stay at the Mukai site, with accommodation provided.
