Job Title: EIA Coordinator – Building & Construction Projects Position Overview: The EIA Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies for building, construction, township, and area development projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with statutory environmental regulations, leading multidisciplinary teams, and preparing EIA/EMP reports as per MoEF&CC and SEIAA guidelines. Key Responsibilities: 1. Team Leadership & Execution · Lead the Environmental Team effectively to achieve project goals and maintain a collaborative work environment. · Ensure efficient team execution by delegating responsibilities, tracking progress, and maintaining accountability for each task. · Drive team efficiency by monitoring performance, optimizing workflow, and identifying training or support needs. · Motivate and hold the team together during tight deadlines and challenging assignments, fostering mutual trust and professional growth. · Take ownership to get the work done within timelines while maintaining quality and compliance standards. · Conduct regular team meetings and progress reviews to ensure clarity, coordination, and timely delivery. 2. EIA Coordination & Management Lead and coordinate EIA projects under Building & Construction (8(a)) category. Manage data collection, baseline studies, and impact assessment activities across environmental components (air, water, noise, soil, ecology, socio-economics, etc.). Ensure timely completion and submission of EIA/EMP reports as per regulatory requirements. Coordinate with functional area experts (FAEs) for compiling inputs. Oversee compliance to NABET accreditation norms for EIA coordination. 3. Regulatory Compliance & Liaison Ensure adherence to MoEF&CC, SEIAA, CPCB, SPCB guidelines. Handle communication with statutory authorities and assist clients in obtaining Environmental Clearance (EC). Review and update legal compliance matrices related to construction sector regulations (EIA Notification 2006, Construction Waste Management Rules, etc.). 4. Documentation & Reporting Prepare and review EIA reports, Environmental Management Plans (EMP), Conceptual Plans, and Form 1/Form 1A. Support during public consultation and appraisal processes. Maintain project records, TOR compliances, and follow-ups for EC issuance. 5. Environmental Monitoring & Audit Supervise monitoring programs for air, water, soil, and noise. Verify analytical reports and ensure quality data for EIA documentation. Assist in post-EC compliance reporting and periodic environmental audits. 6. Team Coordination & Client Management Coordinate with internal experts, external consultants, and clients for smooth project delivery. Provide technical guidance to project engineers and environmental staff. Conduct client meetings and presentations related to EIA processes. Qualifications & Experience: Educational Qualification: Master’s in Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science / Environmental Management / Civil Engineering (with environmental specialization). Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of experience in EIA preparation and coordination for Building & Construction / Township & Area Development projects. Experience with NABET-accredited EIA consultancy preferred. Certification: NABET accreditation as EIA Coordinator (Building & Construction Sector) preferred or eligible for application. Key Skills: Strong understanding of EIA Notification 2006 and amendments. Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), GIS tools preferred. Excellent report writing, analytical, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and multiple project timelines. Strong communication and client-handling abilities. Additional Desirable Skills: Knowledge of sustainable building practices (ECBC, IGBC, GRIHA). Exposure to environmental clearance process through SEIAA/MoEF&CC. Familiarity with construction-phase environmental monitoring and management.
