Role & responsibilities 1. Procurement Strategy & Planning Define and execute procurement strategy for Raw Materials (RM) & Packaging Materials (PM) aligned to business and production needs. Anticipate and ensure uninterrupted material availability for NPD, commercial batches, and technology transfers. Collaborate with cross-functions to prepare rolling forecasts and procurement plans. 2. Vendor Development & Relationship Management Source, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliers in line with regulatory and quality benchmarks. Build long-term partnerships with local and global vendors to ensure supply reliability. Conduct vendor audits/assessments jointly with cross functional teams. Track vendor performance for delivery, quality, and compliance, driving continuous improvement. 3. Cost Optimization & Negotiation Secure competitive commercial terms without compromising quality or compliance. Establish framework contracts for key categories to safeguard price stability and supply assurance. Implement alternate sourcing strategies and inventory optimization for cost savings. Monitor commodity price trends and assess impact on procurement budgets. 4. Regulatory & Quality Adherence Ensure all procurement activities meet cGMP, statutory, and internal audit requirements. Maintain complete procurement documentation POs, agreements, certifications, and vendor compliance records. Guarantee that sourced materials adhere to domestic and international quality/regulatory standards. 5. Collaboration & Business Support Act as a bridge between R&D, Production, QA, RA, and Finance for approvals, documentation, and procurement planning. Provide sourcing support for exhibit batches, clinical/registration samples, and commercial launches. Contribute to process improvements during tech transfer and scale-up operations. Preferred candidate profile B.Sc / B.Pharm with 7 to 9 years experience in Pharmaceutical procurement (RM & PM). Diploma or Certification in Materials Management / Supply Chain will be added advantage Hands-on experience in sourcing RM & PM for Topical / Semi Solid Formulations would be added advantage. Expertise in supplier negotiation and vendor relationship management. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions. High integrity and compliance orientation. Ability to work cross-functionally and handle multiple priorities.
To lead and manage the end-to-end manufacturing operations of topical dosage forms (ointments, gels, lotions, creams), ensuring high-quality production, regulatory compliance, efficient resource utilization, and adherence to GMP, safety, and customer delivery timelines. Role & responsibilities 1. Production Operations Management Oversee end-to-end manufacturing and packing activities for ointments, gels, lotions, and creams. Ensure execution of batches strictly as per approved BMR/BPR. 2. Production Planning & Resource Allocation Prepare machine-wise and area-wise daily/weekly production plans. Ensure availability of raw materials, packing materials, manpower, and machine readiness. Display and communicate next production plans clearly in all sections. 3. Productivity & Optimization Utilize machine, material, and manpower efficiently to maximize output. Implement campaign-based production for similar SKU sizes to reduce changeovers. Minimize machine idle time and breakdowns through proactive coordination with maintenance. 4. Quality, GMP & Documentation Maintain GMP, GDP, and Data Integrity standards across the production floor. Ensure SOP compliance by all personnel. Review and verify MFR, MBMR, MBPR, and executed batch records. 5. Yield, Wastage & Cost Control Monitor stage-wise yields and compare against standard yields. Take corrective actions to reduce wastage, rejection, and process losses. 6. Team Leadership Supervise executives, operators, and technical workforce. Ensure discipline, safety, and adherence to production protocols. 7. Material Coordination Prepare material requirement plans based on production schedules and sales orders. Coordinate with the Purchase Department to ensure timely material availability. Preferred candidate profile Strong understanding of semi-solid manufacturing (ointment, cream, gel, lotion). Knowledge of GMP, QMS, regulatory requirements, and pharmaceutical documentation. Production planning, resource optimization, and problem-solving ability. Leadership skills with team management capability. Good communication, analytical skills, and decision-making ability. Education: B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Tech (Chemical / Biotechnology) or equivalent. Experience: 10-15 years in pharmaceutical topical/semi-solid manufacturing with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
