Role Overview
HOCS Projects is seeking an IntermediateSenior Electrical Engineer to execute and review electrical engineering and design work across projects of varying size and complexity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical quality and timely delivery of assigned electrical deliverables, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering and design activities from concept development through detailed engineering, construction and commissioning support.
- Develop and review low- and medium-voltage power systems, including transformers, switchgear, motor control centres, motors, variable frequency drives, emergency power, earthing, protection and control.
- Perform or review load-flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, arc-flash, motor-starting, voltage-drop, cable-sizing and harmonic studies.
- Prepare and review design criteria, specifications, data sheets, calculations, studies, single-line diagrams, equipment and cable schedules, material take-offs, heat-tracing drawings and issued-for-construction deliverables.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Indian Standards, the Electricity Act and current rules and regulations, CEA requirements, relevant IEC and IEEE standards, client standards and project-specific requirements.
- Plan and manage assigned scope, man-hour estimates, schedules, progress, changes, interfaces and technical risks.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors and other engineering disciplines; resolve technical queries and review vendor drawings and submissions.
- Support procurement, site queries, construction verification, testing, energisation, commissioning, start-up, turnover and close-out, including travel when required.
- Check the work of junior engineers and designers and provide day-to-day technical guidance appropriate to experience level.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university; a masters degree is an asset.
- Approximately 6-12 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in an industrial consulting, EPC or EPCM environment; candidates with strong capability outside this range may also be considered.
- Experience delivering electrical engineering and design for industrial, energy, oil and gas, petrochemical or process-industry projects through multiple execution phases.
- Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power distribution, motor control centres, power-system studies, electrical protection and coordination, earthing, hazardous-area electrical design, heat tracing and construction documentation.
- Working knowledge of applicable Indian electrical codes and standards, including relevant IS, CEA, IEC and IEEE requirements.
- Experience with equipment specification, procurement support, vendor coordination, site installation, testing and commissioning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools or equivalent power-system analysis software. Familiarity with 3D-model review tools is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, sound technical judgement and the ability to collaborate effectively with local and international teams.
- Legally authorised to work in India and willing to travel to client, vendor and project sites as required.
