Job Summary:We are hiring a PhD-level Botanist with specialized experience in kava, kratom, or similar functional botanicals to lead research and development efforts across plant science, formulation, and bioactive innovation. This is a full-time, hands-on, research-focused position dedicated to early-stage discovery, exploration, and formulation ideation. The role is ideal for someone passionate about bridging traditional plant wisdom with modern science. Key Responsibilities:Lead botanical research on kava, kratom, and related species—phytochemistry, ethnobotany, and bioactive compound identification.Develop and optimize product formulations, including extracts, supplements, and functional delivery formats.Design and conduct lab and field studies to assess extraction techniques, compound stability, bioactivity, and safety.Collaborate with regulatory and quality teams to ensure global compliance (FDA, GRAS, TGA, etc.).Translate scientific findings into practical innovation and product development pipelines.Support cross-functional teams with technical knowledge, scientific content, and innovation strategy. Required Qualifications:PhD in Botany, Plant Sciences, Pharmacognosy, or Ethnobotany.Demonstrated research experience with kava, kratom, or related culturally significant botanicals.Proficiency in natural product formulation, plant compound extraction, and functional product development.Familiarity with botanical chemistry, safety evaluation, and bioactive compound profiling.Strong scientific communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with plant-based products in the wellness, supplements, or herbal sectors.Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for plant-based consumer products.Published work or field research on kava, kratom, or traditional botanical systems.Passion for bridging ethnobotany and science through product innovation.
